Fallout: New Vegas

i tried the dll and it fixed that problem.

Played fine for hours today, i was thinking in my head, great no crashes, decided to turn a radio on and bam, it crashed ffs, going to go back on and see how far back i am.

Finally killed one with a combination of frag mines and running away firing at it.

Got through a lot of ammo, quite like the challenge of them tbh as most human opponents are pretty easy to kill.

I've killed few but these are very though, probably going to leave this quarry quest till the very last in the game.

been playing all day, think i prefer it to FO3 i think, im just about to head into vegas strip, spent the last 2 hours just exploring the wasteland, dont think theres much else for me to do in the south part, are there a lot more side quests in the strip?

The recent patch seems to have broken that fix :(

Edit: The one here fixed it http://filenetworks.blogspot.com/2010/10/fallout-new-vegas-fix-crash-freezing.html :D

Yep, this works for me. I was having freezing/crash issues & now it works 100% smooth as silk.

Random freezes including BSOD errors can occur on certain multi core hardware environments due to incompatibilities with the game engine. You can try to avert these issues by limiting the game to use only two cores.

Open fallout.ini file in My Documents\My Games\FalloutNV with a text editor such as Notepad.
Look for the string bUseThreadedAI=0
Change it to bUseThreadedAI=1
Add another line beneath the above, iNumHWThreads=2
Save and close this file.
Repeat steps 2-5 for fallout_default.ini file in installation dir (default C:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout New Vegas)

Hut has still not despatched *pre-orders*. Trying to cancel the order results into them charging your credit card so that it can't be cancelled anymore. This is some quality service right here.

Eh? Surely you can cancel it then phone your bank and reverse the charge because they're making you pay for something they haven't done?

Well I decided to end my first run through after 30 hours of play because I think I bugged some of the story quests by trying to do both the NCR and the platinum chip quests at the same time (I didn't realise the NCR stuff was part of the main story while I was doing it, I thought it was just a good side quest chain). And annoyingly, even though I compleated it with using hardcore mode the entire way, I didn't get the achievment for it, or most of the final quest achievments either.

After a little break I will be starting my 2nd play through, this time trying a melee character and will play through a bit differently to see what other factions are like. I think all in all it will take at least 4 play throughs to experience everything as there are 4 different endings to the main quest depending on who you work for.

I am close to completing my first playthough and already thinking of a second. Haven't used any mods at all but definitely want to try some for the 2nd playthough as a murderous cannibal :D

What are some good mods and must haves? Graphics, small tweaks and fixes would be perfect.

Not many out yet unfortunately what with the game not even being a week old. Just keep checking Nexus.

I imagine however that a lot of the F3 mods will be ported over relatively soon, just need to wait for the authors or others to do the work.

im a little confused,

SPOILERS:

I havent even been at the strip that long, only like 5-6 hours playtime, and ive already met benny, snuck into his room and then he legged it, ive met boomers and have to do things for them, ncr missions, its all so confusing, I cant find much else to do around the southern part of the wasteland either, it seems i may have rushed the main quest a bit as it doesnt feel like theres a lot to do like fallout 3, Im ment to go down to the cove to find benny again, i only got it today.

I enjoyed FO3 for a while then got a bit bored of it, it all seemed to big/vast and I felt I would just end up wasting so much time doing it.

Don't think I really knew what I was meant to do with my character either

Trying NV and its pretty much the same as Fo3 but after reading part of this massive guide I realized I did it all wrong last time.

Will try and use my XP properly to develop a proper character this time around.

yeah it is, an just now because i had my gun out the ncr started firing at me, i was in very good standing with them now im ****** and dont have a previous save, so have to go another route.

Maybe ill start again and not rush things through.

Guessing you were doing the quest for the King, the NCR told you to holster your weapon or they would fire, you should have had an auto save from going through the door to the area.
