Fallout: New Vegas

I'm infamous with the ceaser lot but I can walk upto them and they stay friendly, is it supposed to work like that?

Depends where you are in the game *SPOILERS*

After you kill/deal with Benny and leave the Lucky 38, a Legion guy contacts you and tells you Ceaser wants to see you, at this point unless you ignore the Legion and go with NCR or Yes Man, the Legion will be neutral to you.

Started playing friday and am up to 19 hours so far, lvl 14 and haven't even hit the vegas strip yet (am still in novac).

I'm having a great time exploring, always plenty to do be it side quests, exploring a mine, whatever i can see myself easily hitting the 60 - 80 hour makr on this first playthrough!

I've got difficulty set to normal and i'm playing in hardcore mode, i'm finding i have JUST enough ammo to get by aslong as i don't waste it (switching between a 9mm, a hunting rifle and the varmit rifle atm), food and water haven't been a problem so far, though my stocks of purified water are running low, and i'm constantly running out of stim packs!

Anyone who's exploring do yourself a favour, listen to all the dialogue, read all the computer entries, there're some true "O ****" moments out there that're really worth the time (vault 11 comes to mind for anyone who's been there) and some of the lore and background really helps set the scene and highlight exactly what people will do to survive.

I have noticed 1 thing though, i found a nice power fist (paladin toaster i believe) that causes huge amounts of damage, much more than my guns (i have 95 gun skill and 15 melee and the fist does 47 damage while my hunting rifle only does 27), can anyone tell me if this trend continues? i.e. untrained melee weapons out damaging my well trained guns?

just a note to people who intend on using the 'Not Over Yet' mod to continue the game after you finish the main quest,

You can't level up so to increase stats you'll have to do it through the console

Woohoo my CE arrived today, number 2728/3400, really nice...will be nice on a shelf, the graphic novel and playing cards + poker chips are ace too

the game itself has already eaten 23 hours of my life, I bought it on D2D on friday already.

Nice, i was a little jealous when i heared about the cards in the CE, wish i'd gotten one =P

23 hours and still nowhere near done i bet? it's nice to know there're still some games out that last more than 20 hours in total (i'm looking at you ArcaniA gothic 4!)

Game looks awesome. Deciding wether or not to buy!

Depends what you're looking for, the main story itself seems a little short, but if you want to explore a huge wasteland filled with danger, adventure and a really very deep sense of history and lore you can't really go wrong!

Also blowing heads off in VATS is fun! =D

Any other crossfire users? The game runs fine for me, but it's only using one of my cards and the other one sits idle the whole time. I also had a ctd after a few hours of play.

Same problem, apparantly it's a driver issue just hope they fix it soon!

Game runs between 35 - 60 FPS on ultra with one card going with 2 i'm hoping it'll stay above 60 fps.

I have had one ctd during an hour and a half play last night. The frame rate is pretty smooth even when it does drop down. I am normally getting between about high 20's to 60 fps with v-sync enabled but I have noticed it momentarily sinking to as low as 15. Luckily this rarely happens but when it does it 'feels' poorly in comparison to say...the mid 20's.

Edit : Should have mentioned running everything maxed, 8xAA (now running at x4), have also turned vsync off but I see it's frame capped. Apart from any updates Steam may apply I haven't yet used any patches. No more crashes yet. :)

Getting more crashes just as I am getting sucked in! It seems a bit less structured than FO3, feels like I got to the "main" quest much sooner so I am just doing side quests at the moment. Have come across some very cool vaults and whilst it still feels like an expansion pack I am really enjoying it now, much more than I expected to after the first few hours.

wel lwith the olkd fallouts the main quest was really just a reason to make you go from town to town, it as only in the late game that it really came into play.

26 hours in and I have not got to Novac yet, so many little places and things to discover. I hate playing games a 2nd time so i am playing this very thoroughly though I am keen to progress to see some of the cooler stuff. Oh and only one crash so far thank god, I have done the INumThreaded core ini thing just incase as that made a massive difference in FO3 for me.

That .dll file really helped. I've set it to high, with 2x AF and 2x AA, at 1600x900 and I'm getting on average 45-60fps (I have v-sync on) - even in areas where I was only getting 7-11fps before.

I am most impressed - definitely worth trying the .dll file if your performance doesn't seem brilliant.

I'm going to pause doing the Yes Man quests for now, going to just concentrate on exploring and places on the map.
