Fallout: New Vegas

Q-35 Matter Modulator , Interesting weapon kills most things in on shot. It's like a plasma gun but turns things into matter

starting to get annoying how stupid the devs portray the NCR and other 'Good' NPC's to be

My opinion is that the NCR isn't 'good'. They are one of the several factions that just want more power and although may be more humane than the legion I don't consider them 'good' as they are trying to take over everything and expand their territory (although not doing a very good job of it).

God, this is getting complicated now. What factions to side with, what ones to make enemies of etc?. Awesome stuff. Loads of twists and turns and I'm thinking lots of good replay value to take a different path next time?.

Well, first play through took 35.7 hours - that's pretty good going considering how long modern games take. I was intending to side with the NCR, but I encountered my second quest-related bug (again, I think that's not too bad in 35 hours) and it wouldn't let me finish an NCR quest towards the end (I think it was because I had a similar one from Yes Man) and it only progressed one of them, so I went Independent in the end. I like the little summary effort at the end :)

Gave boone that gun he seems to like it :D

I can't find boone , i got the female brotherhood member with me instead. She likes wearing the power armour  and great with the power fist. I sometimes kill enemies in vault's while she's off killing something else with one punch

The Sniper Rifle is absolutely epic for long range headshot, sneak attack goodness.

Also got Anti-Material rifle from a Ranger Squad that were sent to track me down, that's got some awesome power as well.

Installed this yesterday and while I've heard a lot of good reviews on it, I've also heard more than a few conflicting ones. I do like SP RPGs so will probably try it out. Do the bugs and technical issues take much away from the story and enjoyment of the playthrough? Also I wish they would just give you some half decent premade characters, hate the crazy character design!

Well.. It depends you are one of the lucky ones that don't encounter much of the bugs :D

Also since I assume you have it on the PC, you can fix most of the bugs that occur anyway.

Just so you know, unlike the other companions she doesn't level up, so as you level up and the game generates tougher enemies, you may find she gets owned quite a bit. You can get a mod to fix this though.

I haven't had a CTD in about two days of dull as hell play, and then annoyingly I got one last night. I'm level 8 now and pottering on. Not at all enjoying the experience compared to Fallout 3 though.

I found the Robocon Test site place, which I was meant to clear of ghouls...but then I had to do a certain quest, which involved me clearing out a basement and encountered a new never-before-seen enemy that pretty much kicked my rear end so I retreated out :/

I just can't seem to find anything really good to do, to grant me XP rewards. Most quests given to me require me to fight nasties for which I am not prepared at all it seems.

i had the same issue with getting owned by everything early on and became bored quickly. i wrongly thought that quests around the starter area would be easier but they clearly weren't so I went exploring along the roads, discovered more locations (Nipton I think) and found some easier missions and so levelled up - everything became much easier. I'm still only lvl 15 or something but most humans go down in 1 or 2 shots with the cowboy repeater. i haven't completed that quest yet in the basement or the kill the nutbag mutant one.

the controls for caravan suck! i eventually managed to hammer the whole keyboard and work out what did what but it's not very helpful instructions wise. i now don't have enough cards to play bizarrely enough.

ok just downloaded this via steam and every time I want to start a new game it crashes and windows pop up advises me that new vegas has stopped responding. Anybody got this issue?

If you want the alien blaster and other interesting weapons you will need the wild west perk , so here's a good little cheat incase you didn't accept the perk at the start of the game. You wont be able to get it mid game :(

Type in the console commands , player.addperk ED56

Make sure you save and restart new vegas after you use it to reenable achievement progress. I did it this way because i'll be damned if i play trough the entire game again

ALSO * Spoiler * ( Euclids C-Finder )

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Euclid%27s_C-Finder

The raw power of the sun, contained in an easy-to-carry package! Just point this weapon at the bad guys, and push the button. The Archimedes II orbital laser will strike down at the speed of light and reduce your foes to bones, beaks, and toenails. Once you use it, you will have to wait 24 hours for the laser to recharge.
If you don't mind console cheating, you can manually enable the c-finder no matter what option you chose at the end of the That Lucky Old Sun quest:

player.additem e07d1 1
set "e282d".nPowerConfiguration to 4
set "e282d".bRetargetcomplete to 1
