Fallout: New Vegas

Patch is awesome sorted all my problems out, runs much much smoother and i'm running it in Ultra on an 8800GTS, combat is better, busy areas run so much better overall much better, why it wasnt released like this I do not know

Oh and because of the companion finder I found Boone again!

I still get crashes, but it doesn't slow down in any of the busy areas anymore which is a plus point for me :)

Are the settings on max in the control panel for the graphics card itself? i.e ATI / Nvidia software. As it looks like the detail is on low and it cuts off the field of depth quality like that in games if set low.

I've had that exact problem on the exact same building (the hangar) since the patch, I'm guessing somebody got overzealous when trying to fix the code.

The problem with blurry textures in the distance was common with Oblivion also. They should become more detailed as you walk closer. There's probably an option to disable MIP mapping but it may cause a performance drop. Trying a different texturing filter may help also.

I had that problem with most larger buildings, even though all the settings are maxed out. Could well be a limitation due to the older engine it still uses.

hmm first time playing since the patch and my game runs HORRIBLE

25 FPS in battle with a GTX 460 and i5 760

pre patch it worked fine with the d3d9.dll It runs like crap when i deleted the dll so i put it back and it is still utter rubbish. What happend there then? Running latest Nvidia drivers

The screenshot was taken with Nvidia control panel defaults, and max settings
via the Fallout launcher. I have tried changing the Texture quality, forcing AA/AF, LOD clamp, etc. in the control panel, with no joy.

Tried unpatched, made no difference.

They do, but i have to be practically at the end of the first building for the detail to kick in. That building's probably the worst example i've seen but having explored a bit more it seems to happen everywhere, there's also very noticeable popup's, grass, rocks, guard towers.

I have no idea how to disable the mipmaps.

Looking around it does seem Nvidia have a few issues with this one, fortunately all my other games seem fine.

60 hours in now and finally decided to go to the Strip :p

Does anyone know how much of the game is left once you approach Benny? I'm just going through the Kings/NCR thing

Unfortunately since the patch i am having some issues.

Seems to be related to a particluar passage of play, as i crash within 2minutes of my last save now, consistently. Stuck in the ultra-lux hotel, trying to meet the agent contact, shame.

Might have to backtrack to an earlier save just to get a functioning game again.

I had the odd CTD prior to patch now just one consistent loop.

In terms of story it depends allot on what you have already done. You "supposedly" spend the next few hours after dealing with Benny (depending on what you do with him) running about gaining rep with different factions, however if you've already done this then you will have a few hours less before the end.

Very odd - I had the same issue post-patch - before the patch I'd actually saved in the steam room, waiting for the contact and I'd quick-saved seconds before he walked into the room. Must've crashed half a dozen times before I managed to make it past that scene without a crash, but perseverance worked for me.

Well ive completed the game in 15 hours and throughly enjoyed it. The last battle against Casers was quite hard. Doubt ill play through it again.
