Far Cry 4 due this November

Overkill if that's what's required to run a game. I guess the only other solution is to see if there are any other memory hungry processes you can close, or save, exit and restart the game every so often

Interesting, you have 16Gb . Hmmm Been thinking of 16Gb for a while as I sometimes run out when using PaintShop Pro and RAW files. That might be a solution albeit a tad desperate.

To save me looking through 41 pages, has it been discussed which GPU is required to get 40/50/60fps on max settings at 1080P? I have a 4790k and 16gb 2133mhz ram if that makes a difference.

Thanks Usher, but this is what no longer works for me, and not due to the 1.5.0 patch. There was a uplay client patch (4.9 IIRC) prior to the game patch, and now even with -skipintro set the shortcut takes me to the game's page on Uplay where I have to manually click play in order to launch the game. I've created a new shortcut, but it still makes no difference.
This is what I get.

Also try skipintro 1
That didn't work either.

no difference at all.......you dont need 16gb of RAM at 1080p..more like only 4 to 6 gb RAM.

i'm playing Metro Last Light and it definitely looks more detailed than FC4, now it runs perfectly on 970 SLI so there you go.....FC4 is a sloppy shooter, released too quickly without anyone testing it first.

FC4 will be worth another try in 4 months time

just swapped over to my i5 setup which has 16gb ram, on my 8gb setup I would get windows out of memory error warnings, now with 16gb iv been playing for ages and get no issue. either game suffers from a memory leak or it really needs more ram.

Game crashed for me twice in about 20 minutes. Had to restart my PC both times. :( I did think uPlay was taking a while longer to load, perhaps there was an update for that and not the game itself?

It would be nice to think Ubi would be reading the posted comments. I had my first crash today that actually rebooted the PC by itself. I was going to stop playing but Kryat beckoned :(

Getting this off someone for Christmas. Loved 3 and it ran alright on my current rig, is there much of a jump in graphics, will it run ok on this spec.

- Intel Core i5 2500k 3.30GHz @ 4.40GHz
- Asus GeForce GTX 560 1024MB GDDR5
- Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB(4x2GB) DDR3

Your 560 might struggle although it ran fine with my GTX580 which in it's day was a top of the range card, I set it on mostly medium settings , since upgrading to GTX980 I can run it on Ultra. After adding the card my game ran like a stuttering dog:confused: & I thought the card was faulty.
I discovered Windows had deducted the 4Gb 980 card memory from my 8Gb system memory so it showed I only had 4Gb memory available of which half was already in use running windows 7! I found where to fix the problem & then all was well.
I just pointed that out as it shows just how critical the sytem memory is to make the game run smooth.

InterestinglyI still have it running with an outdated Q6600 at stock 2.4Ghz so it shows the PSU is not so important!

I don't see much difference myself. There is tessellation of course. I can't see the game being that good with a 560. However you may think medium settings is fine.

Had three crashes so far tonight. Now I have had enough. I was sent an email the other day from Ubisoft asking for my feedback and thoughts on FC5. There wasn't a box for "for ****s sake try to make FC4 work for more than 15mins first".

I have played this 7-8 hours straight and never experienced a crash only issue is that I get the black shadow issue.. Solved by setting up an nvidia profile disAbling sli

tha game is good but this 270x just keeps on stuttering very badly when driving or flying around. its like its running out of vram. but its got 2gigs and my 560ti with 1gig never suffered this sort of stuttering. anyone know if its the game or if its just an amd issue? im guessing the latter since my 560ti wasnt stuttering.
