Far Cry 4 due this November

Just to note it is just your opinion.
Naturally open world games play a bit different than others and some enjoy the open world aspect while others don't. Open world games will improve with technology I think.
I have seen many excited about Alien Isolation but so far I've found it a bit of a borefest :). Walking down similar looking corridors and oh, another door is locked and needs a key/card whatever :). However I think I will prefer FC4 more when I get it (as I did FC3)

An openworld shooter is only good if you find something different at the end of each sidequest like with Fallout 3, but with FC4 it's yet another Radio mast or an enemy camp....you're zig zagging back and forth across the map so you can build up skill points, so you can buy a better gun, that's all, you're not actively playing the game..............because the game is the main mission only, the rest doesn't really count for much.

this style of openworld shooter doesn't work for me, it should be a semi-linear story game only.......like FC1, you find better weapons in enemy camps as you progress, you shouldn't need skill points or loads of money.

FC1 went to different locations all the time..research labs....caves..underground bunkers.....fortresses etc............but both FC3 and 4 are exactly the same, the maps have been massively simplified to save time, money and effort.........everyone should notice this !!!
 
Maybe I'm easily pleased but I'm really enjoying this now, it's great fun!

Perfomance is pretty good too. I've had 0 crashes, and get a pretty solid 30-35 fps now at 4k on a single 970 with a 7 year old q6600 and 8gb ram, all settings high except textures on ultra. I would lower the res to get more fps but my cpu is so slow it doesn't make any difference! Even adding SMAA at 4k only gives a 2 fps hit.

Looks absolutely stunning too!

I have Q6600 & an MSI gamer GTX980, 6Gb ram, I don't think the CPU holds the game back as it runs fine for me also,has done from the start, sometimes I get very minor stutters when driving at high speed but this last two days it's seems gone altogether:confused:
I play on all Ultra settings except motion blur is off as I don't like it, I experimented with tree relief on & off & messed with other settings to get the best visuals to suit my taste, some settings are better done in Nvidia Control panel where I enabled anostropic filtering X16 & this improves the graphix quite a bit

Yes, x16 anisotropic has always been a must for me - something that you can never compromise on.

With regard to the cpu holding it back, I'm just speaking from experience. If I can run the game at the same framerate at 4k vs 1080p, something is seriously holding the gfx card back! Maybe I'm wrong but I just assume it's the 7 year old cpu which is below the game's minimum requiremnts!!

Out of interest, what res do you run and download fraps to let us know your framerates?

Perhaps you're getting similar framerates to me, they sound low to most PC users but it's what most console game's run at so it's perfectly playable, though far from ideal.
 
I've just run fraps to test my FPS, it ran between 30 & 48 FPS on Ultra with just a couple of dips to 28, I messed about with the quality settings but got little difference to be honest,on Low I got about 5 FPS more for the short time i tried it.
I tried hovering in a buzzer quite low & looking down the FPS was 55 but looking across to the distant mountains 48, going high up the distant view dropped to 35
Running down the road around 35-40 ,climbing onto and riding an elephant 45, standing next to the Elephant 35.:confused:
Driving a car around 30 -35, quad bike 35-40
what surprised me was altering the refresh rate of my monitor which is normally 120Mhz I set it to 60 & it knocked about 8 FPS off everywhere
 
Have not had a crash in a few days now so I am quietly confident that it’s working well now. Also, it seems to have stopped not saving my progress. Loving some of the views, the gameworld is beautiful in parts, I am regularly compelled to take screenshots of a gorgeous snow-capped mountain backdrop as I speed along on my jet-ski.

It was annoying not being able to unlock more health bars earlier, that felt a bit limiting but I’m enjoying the guns, lots of them and they look and work well. Overall it’s a very good shooter.
 
I bit the bullet & dpwnloaded it, can't see any difference to be honest but I had no problems as such, I'm playing on Ultra & it looked a bit prettier than usual unless i imagined it
