Far Cry 6 GPU performance not bad at all but is severely bottlenecked by CPU

It’s quite simple. If you are an AMD user, you will always have to turn down ray tracing in all nvidia sponsored titles. I am guessing Dying Light 2 will be crushing AMD cards in ray tracing as usual. If you have an nvidia card, turn down textures in AMD sponsored games as the vram will be breached. For neutral games like Deathloop, everything will be balanced on both gpu vendors.
Deathloop is AMD sponsored Shaz.

You need more VRAM mate and this is just the start. From now on you can expect that to be the case on most if not all AMD sponsored titles. If you want HD textures you need to sell and upgrade to an AMD card :p:D

Yeah, could be. I don’t even blame AMD. We all know Nvidia would do it. Remember all the useless tessellated stuff under water in Crysis 2? Lol.

It might be a good thing amd can't afford too many sponsorships... :p :D

Are those people using Nvidia cards by chance? :p

They are indeed, funny thing is the issue is there on amd and consoles too, just nowhere as bad/noticeable.

Thing is even from watching footage on YT where people aren't having issues on 6900xt etc., the textures still don't look quite as good as fcnd HD textures so I wouldn't be surprised if amd aren't getting the full benefit of "HD" textures either and if/when ubi fix whatever the issue is, we see even better textures on those setups afterwards....

I have 12GB of vram on my 3080 Ti and don’t have texture loading issues but constant stuttering where fps drops from 76 to 63 for a split second before jumping back to 76.

Assume you don't have adaptive resolution on, because that can cause stuttering.

Well said Bug.

Tanks are great fun, i genuinely didn't mean to kill any of the civilians that I did in this video.

Your VRam is moving around at between 12GB and 13.5GB, your Frame Rates are rock solid between 60 and 70 FPS, butter smooth.

Its easy to see watching your VRam Buffer how a 12GB and especially a 10GB card would suffer the effects of VRam buffer limitations.

Also, your CPU hit 5.2Ghz in some places, nice.

Virtually zero stuttering in this video. So it really needs more than 12GB of vram at 4K. I still don’t understand how I am getting stuttering with just 9gb of vram being used out of 12GB with FSR ultra quality.

If you look at his video its never really under 12GB, sometimes goes over 13GB.

So there is 3 to 4.5GB of data in his GPU cached in the VRam Buffer, so it is streamed from the VRam Buffer, that 3 to 4.5GB of date could very well be a critical data set, like textures, and its too big to fit in your VRam Buffer, so it doesn't put it in there, which is why you're only seeing 9GB, the missing 3 to 3.4GB textures? are instead being streamed directly from the disk, which is much much slower, everytime it steams those textures from the disk it causes a huge stall, which you see and feel as stutter.

Yep, tried my 12GB 6700XT and still got texture loading issues. It's almost like the official recommended specs for this are true. A bunch of people sticking their fingers in their ears and just refusing to accept that 12GB (let alone 10GB) is not sufficient in some cases for 4K HD gaming. AMD playing Nvidia games unfortunately. But hey, just like with Nvidia doing the massive overuse of tessellation, we can at least turn it down in the game menu to get playable framerates.

Far Cry 6 Recommended 4K configuration ( 30 FPS, Raytracing On)

Operating System Windows 10 (64-bit versions)
Processor AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 Ghz or Intel Core i7-10700K @ 3.8 Ghz
RAM 16 GB (Dual-channel mode)
Video card AMD RX 6800 (16 GB) or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 (10 GB)
DirectX
DirectX 12
Hard Drive 60 GB available storage

Please note that the minimum requirement for running the HD Texture Pack for Far Cry 6 is 16GB of VRAM. If you download and run the HD Texture Pack with lower VRAM capabilities, you will encounter performance issues while playing.

I appreciate you testing this ICDP.

I sold my 6700 XT a while back and I was really curious to see if it needed to be disabled there also to put this false narrative to bed.

PS: i have this game BTW, tho i haven't even fired it up yet as between Star Citizen and Rust i just don't have the time.

Bring it......! WITH ALL THE TEXTURES!!!!!!!! all i need is a new GPU :(

Bug needs a RX 6800 for sure!

its almost as if people with GPUS with less than 16GB VRAM and trying to bruteforce their way through this game would know more than the game developers!
