Far Cry Primal

Ok.. I watched the trailer and still have no idea why Far Cry has been tagged on to the name of the game... I must be missing something.

Oh hang on it's Ubisoft that's why..

Exact same reason Battlefield was tagged onto the name Hardline, to make people think its another in the series of battlefield/farcry.

But with Hardline they probably would've had more success without it.

Nearly every thread in the pc gaming section is the same. Same boring repetitive comments about how **** the developer is and how the titles is the same as the old version but with a new skin.

Seriously there is about a dozen coments saying the same thing. I'm sure it's all about the post count.

I'll keep an eye on it like I do most games but I'm not overly fussed about it. Would be nice read a thread about the actual games though every now and again.

But there isn't really much of a game to see. What do you want people to say? "I like X feature" and "X has been done really well"? If we can't see it, we can't say it. What is known though is that Ubisoft is making it, and it's going to be released 15 months after the previous one.

This game might be good, but until we see some more, it's good to be sceptical given Ubisoft's track record and negative attitude towards PC.

Nice, no guns would make for an interesting type of gameplay. Different types of bows perhaps?

...But these games are being released awfully quick. I enjoy the Far Cry games, but I don't want that franchise to go the way of Assassin's Creed and become a yearly cash cow. The day we sigh at the expected announcement of yet another Far Cry game will be a sad day indeed.

That is actually relatively original but how much fun can they provide with the era?

This is my thinking, loved FC3, FC4 didn't do it for me, the game ran fine I just didn't find the story engaging.

I can only imagine that after a while throwing rocks at Wholly Mammoths would get a little long in the tooth, more to come though hopefully!

I can see this having potential...

When you find the time machine with the cache of modern weapons and go all Rambo on your cave-people buddies! :p

Disappointing for me, Farcry with no guns, no vehicles & no intelligent voice overs other than grunts
Basically it'll end up as an animal hunting game

maybe a modern guy gets transported back in time as in Assasin Creed

I would be surprised if that's it - like you say, it would get a bit dull, particularly if there's a lack of dialogue.

Normally I'd commend Ubisoft for trying new things but this is a bit like setting the next GTA game in ancient Egypt. You can do it but what's the point? They were clearly running out of ideas if they had to make such a radical departure from the series.

They should've just laid FC to rest and make Primal a new IP. I'm really struggling to establish a logical connection between this game and the rest of the franchise.

I think it looks great, it's just a spiritual successor (like a spin off).

A key aspect of the recent far cry games was the hunting side, so they've appeared to make a game based around that - I'd imagine there will be a Witcher 3 style 'tracking system' - hunting large prey, fighting other tribes & becoming a chieftain type figure.

They will continue the normal Far Cry series, that will be Far Cry 5 - this is just a side project.

I'm happy because I love Far Cry, but then I'm sad because they haven't done what everyone really wants and made a Far Cry remake. :(

Really fed up of all this hunting and crafting rubbish. Boring filler.
