Far Cry Primal

Didn't think it was unlocked but apparently so. Hearing a lot of error codes being an issue yet for some 4K with a 980ti is smooth.. I dunno what to do.
 
Played a couple of hours of this and it's been a very pleasant surprise. While it is really Far Cry by numbers (as if anyone expected anything else) the whole setting really works in the games favour. The amount of hostile wildlife means you can't just stroll around like a Neanderthal Terminator; you have to creep and use liberal amounts of your hunter sense to keep on top of things.
The combat is good too. The primitive weapons mean you're not a murder machine and it's infinitely enjoyable to have an Udam running at you full pelt, ready to kill you and eat your gibblets, and pop a single arrow into his eye and kill him dead. Also special mention to the way you can lose lots of enemy tribe aggro by simply leading them into ambushes with aggravated bears or a pack of wolves.

It could all crumble as you get further into the game and it becomes more 'Ubified' but right now it feels about as fresh as they could make the series.

yea FC has always been a Shooter set on a tropical island or similar, things started going wrong with FC 4, because this game revealed that the developers we're running out of ideas and simply rehashing FC3.

the biggest mistake of all here being, replacing guns with sticks and stones......... not Far Cry at all !!!

thank God we're getting DOOM soon, which is a remake of the brilliant DOOM 3.

the equivalent here would have been:- a remake of Far Cry 1, which would have been brilliant.

is there a lesson to learn here ? ...........yes dont deviate too far from what already works well for you and your fans.

the new doom looks nothing like doom 3 to me.....

looks more like the original doom.
 
Well just did the first mission at the start and its running fine for me running sli'ed 980's at 3440x1440 all settings to highest apart from AA which only has FXAA on sli for some reason so turned that off and its not going below 60fps at all which is nice.
Also I am using the game ready driver.
 
Been playing for this afternoon.
Got myself some kick ass pets and pretty skilled with the bow (I'm awful at shooting down birds so still have the standard one though!) and now all the enemies seem a bit easy, maybe i should really push the story and see if it ramps the difficulty to match the players "skills" they've most likely got by that point.
 
GTX980 reference model, i7-4790, 16gig ram, 1080p, default very high settings, decided to 30fps cap lock in game. runs perfect and looks very nice, runs better than previous Farcry game.

At risk of derailing the thread....I think you're missing the point.

The new Doom looks like the originals, Doom 1 and 2 in terms of setting and gameplay. Doom 3 turned it into a boring pitch black jumpscare suspense game.

I'm glad the new Doom is back to the original, running around hell shooting demons in the face :cool:

You should be able to hold 60fps, why lock at 30 if only 1080p?
 
Quiet liking it so far. More of the same really but seems solid so far. It runs much smoother in my opinion then the prior games but that may be down to G-Sync. Sitting at around 80 fps average, up to 100 and down to 70 in spots at 3440 x 1440 on a pair of TX's with all settings maxed, it does not seem to support 3-way SLI however. This is with the patch however they released and latest drivers so no complaints.

Game definitely runs smoother than FC4 and FC3 by far! Xfire works beautifully :D NO stutters and the environments with everything turned up in 4k are dense and very nice to look at.

If you like FC games then you'll like this.. it's definitely FarCry without a doubt, even though no guns. I'm enjoying it :)
 
On the back of hearing the performance improvements since the totalbiscuit review....I folded and purchased.
 
So far so good 20 hours in and no problems. spent most time finding materials to craft instead of progressing with the story.

Finding the weapons quite underpowerd especially trying to bring down big game.
