That does sound a bit iffy. People don't tend to think of the higher-order effects of stuff or general consequences as you can see in the first few replies to the thread.

They're just focused on the immediate effect which is [bad person] they don't like has something bad happen to them rather than this possibly being a very slippery slope.

Of course, if it transpires that he's knowingly been knowingly transacting with, for example, some dodgy Russian sources or something then that's a different matter entirely.

Laurence Fox also jumped on the bandwagon, calling on Nigel to name and shame the bank so that everyone with an account can withdraw their money at the same time.

He should start a petition.

Would he get enough signatures for it to be debated in parliament? Can they simply delete a petition?

He is currently dreaming up a story of the bank manager who frequents the fictional arms who says that he is frustrated that he has to give bank accounts to Blacks, Irish and dogs.*

*For the avoidance of doubt I make a nod to the sorts of acceptable discrimination that prevailed in the 60s, purely as a joke.

  • Told by his current Bank several months ago that his personal and business accounts will be closing about now.

  • Tried 7 other Banks for a personal and business account, told no by all.

  • He thinks its either because he is what the EU (by law) has defined as a "P.E.P" or Politically Exposed Person aka anyone involved in politics, which he says adds extra work for the bank or..............

  • It's because banks didn't want Brexit and as the "leader" of Brexit he is to blame for it or..............

  • It's because Chris Bryant said he received money from the Russian Government in 2018 which he claims is a lie.

  • He then talks about why a bank account is needed in 21st Century UK and how is was something stripped from people in the USSR and Nazi Germany.

  • He then says he'll tell people more on GBNews later today.
Anyone claiming they know exactly why his accounts were closed, without actually working for the bank involved, is simply guessing like the rest of us right now, even if that guess later turns out to be right/wrong, just bear that in mind.

Would not be surprised if he's blown this out of proportion.

Banks have had to perform increased checks on accounts. I've had Barclays telling me for about a year they are going to close my accounts if I don't give them the information they need.

I hadn't because it was a ball ache speaking to them. When I did, because of the nature of the business, they didn't like my answers which meant more letters and account restrictions.

I spoke with them recently, explained the structure of the business and all is well. It's nothing particurlarly exciting, they just couldn't put us in whichever box they wanted at first.

He's probably dug his heels in with this extra information malark (which I would guess is EU driven) gone to other banks and they've all said the same thing and don't want him unless he explains the nature of his business.

Now he's got to the stage where the bank have restricted his accounts. He gets a chance to spout, includes a bunch of other stuff that isn't really relevant, and enjoys another 5 mins of fame in the dying light.

I expect it'll help him grift some money dough out of his loyal followers. You can see why he's friends with Trump.
