Faulty Palit GTX 1070?

I've still yet to receive a response. Aren't they normally quite prompt? I might have to give them a call during my lunch break otherwise.

depends, sometimes I had very quick replies, sometimes I haven't heard for several hours. You should hear something today though. oh darn, I forgot it's Saturday ... well, I hope you hear something today!

I don't think there's any need for an "exception". You recieved an item which failed on the first day. Simply request a replacement (if that's what you want). If a replacement isn't available, you can either wait for it to be repaired or get a refund.

That's his issue though. He doesn't want a repair, and probably not a refund as no 1070's are available at the moment for the price he paid.

As far as I know, the retailer doesn't have to provide a replacement card, even if they have one in stock, but they do have to offer a refund or a repair (although in this case they probably would replace it).

Once the item is over 30 days old, the retailer doesn't have to offer a refund, just a replacement or repair.

Seems like you can just get a refund, no idea what they will do if you want a replacement as those cards aren't on sale anymore. I would imagine a repair would require them to send it away, giving you a few weeks waiting time.

Yes they are:

and they won't charge him the extra. I am sure OCUK will send a replacement as it is DOA - that is what they have done in the past for me.

Oh dear! Have you contacted them yet? Keep me informed!

Sent a webnote last night asking for a full refund or if its possible pay the difference and get an MSI. Still waiting for a reply.

Probably should have just got MSI in the first place but £360 looked a good deal.

I mean on sale as in for the same reduced sale price, £359.

I think that is irrelevant. He paid £359 and I'm sure if OCUK have stock they will offer to send him a replacement and take the faulty one back.

It would be pretty **** of them not to, seen as that is what almost every retailer has done whenever I have had something DOA, including from OCUK in the past.

Perhaps we're not the only ones affected by this? I hope they get back to us sooner rather than later! I'd even consider paying the difference for a more reliable model.

Yeah I would hope so too. Just doesn't seem great that it would appear that atleast 2/90ish people have failed cards.

I bought this card for the wife as an upgrade from her 660. bit annoyed its back in the box ready to go back!
I have a MSI gaming X in my rig and had no problems at all. Get what you pay for i guess.

I'm surprised they haven't acknowledged either of us yet, especially when you consider this thread is pretty active. Are there no representatives on the forum today?

At this moment, it appears that a couple of faulty cards have been recieved.

This doesn't prove that those particular cards are unreliable, although it does prove that Palit's QC and testing might be lacking.

With any product, there are likely to be some failures, even when brand new. Unless there are more reports of Palit graphics cards failing on arrival, or even after a period of use, there is no need to consider them an unreliable brand. Before buying my Palit card, I did some research and from what I read, they do make decent quality graphics cards.

I've had a Palit GTX 275 and GTX 970 in the past, both of which were fine.

Still, the situation does not inspire much confidence.

90 cards and two failures isn't proof of anything. Its just not a large enough sample.

Weird how people question OC's response before they have a chance to make one.

I'm not questioning OC at all, how could I when they haven't responded? It's not OC's fault if a Palit card stops working, they have no hand in production or testing etc.
