FEAR 3

Seeing loads of people complaining about FOV already with seemingly no way to change it, I seem to be becoming increasingly bad in terms of eyes and headaches and really bad fov's really are making a difference now.

The stupid thing is, FOV's are SO easy, it should be a bog standard option in every game ever made, even more important if its a console game ported to a PC, FOV is quite catagorically both important and really does feel massively different on a screen 2 ft away or 8-10ft away on a TV. Its so painfully lazy it winds me up no end, and apparently motion blur isn't removable, which is the second thing I'll try and disable on 99% of games after fixing the FOV.

You're talking about minutes of work, that has been done for decades, why it isn't the first thing sorted when porting a game I don't know.

Graphics are very average. It is a rubbish port though, i have a GX660R laptop and it is struggling to get decent frame rates on high settings. Which is mad considering this laptop as eaten everything i have threw at it from crysis 1-2 to Dirt3.

Game play is the same, though still fun.

I would have waited till it was in the bargain bin if i didn't already pre-order it, to late now.

Lucky you, my bee.com preorder doesnt appear to even have been dispatched yet -.-

Just my luck with preorders :(

I have used a site like that to order MW2 as it was the cheapest on preorder,1 week later i got it,thats really bad for shops to send pre orders that late, didnt use them again:(

Ouch -.- Might cancel it then and go elsewhere

Edit, cancelled and just bought it via steam. Too late to get it from a store for tomorrows delivery now and ended up buying that divinity 2 game as well which is on special atm lol. Looking forward to playing this though.

Played the first mission and a bit of the second, enjoyable but it does feel very console like () the movement, controls, FOV etc.

Graphics are good enough, although I have to turn the AA off and shadows and 2 other things to high or medium (can't quite remember :p) in order to get around 50-60FPS on my 4850 512MB at 1080 :(

EDIT:

Also no manual saves either

just had my first system freeze/crash with fear 3 , had to reboot with the reset switch . no errors given either

Seems to be crashing a LOT with dx11, people switching to dx9 to stop crashing, still no fov fix, its just so unbelievably lazy. 95% of PC game buyers have no clue what dx11 is, they see a trailer and judge graphics on that, nothing else and theres still not many people who wouldn't buy a game because it looked awful, Duke Nukem being the obvious example.

But fov, to fix the fov so people don't feel sick/get headaches or just feel wrong throughout a game, you really are talking about seconds of work in general, and not even making it an easy config file you could at least change yourself.

Though I guess I like that even less, why are people buying less games on PC's and consoles doing, well, the same game will feel "right" on a console with the right fov, and play it on the PC and while it's smoother, higher def and looks better, it feels "wrong" due to the dodgey FOV and just makes you feel uncomftable and weird, it does make you think if they do it on purpose. I mean Borderlands, one of the weird/worst FOV games around, how many normal pc gamers wouldn't know how to change the FOV, most of them, so how many are missing out on the "perfect" experience of the game.

The "creep" enemy has made me jump a few times lol. Its not as scary as the first game but does have some very eerie environments on it. Currently enjoying it, although the checkpoint system is pretty crap and annoying as you can lose a lot of ground if you get killed.
