US: Fear the Walking Dead

Anyway, what makes that neighbourhood so special?! And why are the military exterminating everyone outside the fence?

It's likely the army/government know how much of a crisis it as, and what's actually happening, hence why they have these quarantine zones and the army is exterminating the populace to reduce the potential walker count. They don't have supplies for everyone and can't keep everyone safe, so they are put down. It's grim but in this kind of end of the world scenario I can imagine there being drastic measures.

As for this town specifically, this isn't the only safe zone. There are several of them all over. The Alexandria Safe Zone in TWD is just one of the others. These spots are probably just a way to keep civilization going. A preservation method.

Speaking of safe zones:

Think of how many people there are in LA. When they start to spill out, about 20 army guys are going to get overran very quickly.

Yes, but where are they? Not one, that we've seen, has wandered up to the fence? If there are that many out there... surely we should be seeing them at the fence?

Maybe so. If it is, it'll lose a little respect from me. The horde are all waiting in town, planning an attack?

It's deserted out there. Wassaname has even been out there, didn't see one?

So the military would drop some pretty heavy explosives on them while they could... You've got everyone else safe in these zones.

Maybe. I guess it depends if they're all nicely herded up while the military still has the capability to deal with them amongst other variables.

It's best not to over analyse these kind of shows tbh.
If everyone did what they were supposed to do, when they were supposed to do it, we wouldn't have the resulting drama series :p

Yeah, of course. But as I watched through TWD the question I always had was how did these slow moving, dumb, useless things over power the military. (Seriously, I remember the Governor simply side stepping one and it seemed to fall and die)

I should be getting an answer finally.

We all wondered how the hell that happened :D I let it go a while back, but I'd also love to see them portray it in at least some kind of reasonably believable way.

If they made the fresh walkers at least a little more sprightly, that'd be a good start.

I'm going with the assumption that given how things have played out a lot of people shut themselves into their houses (and in doing so confined themselves with infected in many cases) and that in the longer run they will start to find ways out (its been a theme through TWD as well) also fits with how the military in FTWD been clearing mostly house to house in the immediate area.

I guess mixture of numbers and the fact they don't easily die unless the brain is destroyed which early on people generally "wouldn't" know.

...... and the fact they don't easily die unless the brain is destroyed which early on people generally "wouldn't" know.

That was made abundantly clear in last week's episode when they passed the hospital - there was a bunch of soldiers shooting at a zombie but it just kept coming until someone, by chance, hit it in the head.

So the flash light in the house was someone looking for help / being held captive?

Seems weird why the army would execute people in a house that can easily be seen from the 'Safe Zone' - Surely they would want to do it more out the way so questions can't be asked?
