US: Fear the Walking Dead

Not quite seeing the point of this series. Surely now it's moved so fast it's almost upto speed with the start of the walking dead.

Was hoping for a slower pace more scientific analysis of what was happening approach rather than just 3 episodes then basically TWD

I agree about where it's left up to but then I think if they covered the scientifics of the outbreak then surely Rick and the group would have already shared the same knowledge at some point during the past 5 seasons, which would have negated the point of FTWD.

They could have done so much more with a slower paced outbreak and as I said right at the start this should have been done more like The Wire or Narcos where you see the civilian side and the army side and a few other perspectives. How about a newspaper office or Mayors office, how were they responding. Then once it all fell apart some of these characters could have met up.

We saw a single perspective from a family, total waste and now we have a new TWD.

Totally agree, they had a golden opportunity to really tell the story of the outbreak from the beginning to the complete loss of control but they just wasted it and made a family drama instead.

That would have been really good - they could still have had what we got as a framework with the stories of a bunch of different people who end up in the hospital place where their stories collide.

Was quite disappointed that it jumped suddenly to a scene of missing posters, etc. and just as quickly jumped on.

Thought it was an incredibly poor 6 episodes.

Travis is a Travis-ty of a character. Ho ho. He reminds me of a muppet such is his level of characterisation and acting. Didn't get any better when he'd beaten that soldier up and shot the ex-wife. In the hands of a capable actor and a decent script, it might have been better. (Though the shooting of the ex-wife means on the plus side, that's one less crap character)
The only decent characters in it are Daniel and the young girl.

I was expecting a lot more, and overall, I'm very disappointed. :(

Least the main series is still knocking around.

I was expecting them to go a very different direction with Travis instead it almost feels like they don't know what to make of the character.

Agree I think the potential was there and we always wanted to see how things happen or occurred from the start but it was just a drama with an American family in the end and tbh if all the characters died on the last episode would we have cared or missed any of them?

I also love how they all become zombie killers towards the the last episode, yet previous they were running away or too busy shining a torch wondering what is this man doing having an all you can eat buffet on this guys chicken leg for 5 minutes.

Will watch the next season naturally since it hopefully can only improve.

I found it pretty good off the back of TWD.

I liked the tension and the horror of knowing what was happening when they clearly didn't. I really wish they could do a series from a government point of view and see how it all collapses. Though the black guy with his condo was great character could have done with him earlier.

I really liked the idea someone mentioned above with seeing it from the perspective of i.e. someone working for the media, etc. as it unfolded and I think FTWD would have really benefited from seeing bits from each characters perspectives until their story lines all collided in the field hospital/headquarters or whatever it was.

I watched World War Z this weekend. It makes you realise how good the WD series really is when you've watched this rubbish. Dreadful.

Have you read the book? It's about a bajillion times better than the film (and not just because "it's a book" - completely different story). It's quite short too so even if you're not a huge reader it's very accessible.

15 episodes this time instead of 6, probably take us up to roughly the same time when it ends with all the breaks they take in the US.

Something that fear the walking dead has failed to do so far is explain how the zombies managed to overrun the military so easily. Not as if theyre super stealth ninja's, they shamble along yet managed to overrun defensive positions that had tanks, heavy caliber machine guns etc. You'd think 1 minigun would be enough to mow down thousands of them with ease.

Still time i suppose but i doubt they'll go that indepth.
