US: Fear the Walking Dead

There were a few silly parts e.g the ID card not working first time and the soldier Travis let go was bound to come back! Overall pretty good episode with some nice cinematic shots / cgi, especially the end.

Enjoyable, but all these odd things that people have already pointed out.

The base isn't far away (Depp even said so in the cage) and people were all up and chatting as they drove away from the town, but they emerged and it was day light and the 2,000 walkers had evaporated!

I almost wanted them all to die for having one of the most selfish plans in the known TV universe of setting 2,000 walkers on a hospital to try and save their family.

They used ultra powerful binoculars to look at his terrible CGI boat, which turned out to be only a few hundred metres off the shore in the closing shot.

I could mention the trained army dude, missing the girl from less than 10 meters. Surprised he didn't shoot the dad mind you?

Still, it was enjoyable, but as others have also said, a shame it was less about how it happened and more just another TWD.

One thing that really bugged me, and I know it's slightly picking but there was a massive firefight going on outside the hospital with fully automatic weapons fire and low flying helicopters. Yet inside there was not a single audible gunshot from outside.

With project cobalt in effect they (the civilians) were all going to die in the morning anyhow which the main characters knew - so desperate times desperate measures and all that. (Its still incredibly selfish as they only plan to save their own but meh I kind of like that it isn't your stereotypical warm and fuzzy going to end up alright in the end).

He wanted the dad to feel pain - don't quite buy him having motivation to shoot the girl mind but still - so he wasn't shooting to kill outright - the intention was for the dad to have to watch his girl die a slow death. I don't really buy it at all though seemed a bit shoe horned in.

I noticed that - at first (as later on you do hear the alarms and distant gunfire for a short time) I thought it was just staggered timeline wise and not very well portrayed but later it went quiet again internally yet a couple of scenes later cut back to soldiers still firing full auto outside. While I can excuse a lot of stuff small details like that detracted from it quite a bit.

10 minutes into the first episode and I'm annoyed already. Oh yes, go into an abandoned church, see lots of blood everywhere, and do absolutely nothing about it apart from tell his wife who equally wants nothing to do with it. Who are these people? Pretty sure I'd have the police there straight away, same with anyone...

This is just going to annoy me the same as The Walking Dead, isn't it? :p A show full of brain dead morons - and I'm not talking about the zombies.

LoL your in for a rough one dude :D but totally agree it can be silly at times but it does the trick and keeps you glued.

Even though Liza was only in it for a short time that scene at the end was far more powerful than a lot of the characters dying in the normal walking dead that have been in it for a while IMO. I know there is a lot wrong with the show, but I think it has a lot of potential.

Also the scene where the other nurse had killed all the patients then was sitting on the bed getting ready to kill herself was really eerie.

The new guy and the son are interesting characters. The mum and daughter dont do all that much yet, but they are both nice to look at. The daughter will probably be a lot more involved in season 2 as the herd is thinned. Travis was a really boring character until the finale.

Bring on season 2!

Yeah - I think most of us saw her death coming - I didn't even think I'd care at all but it was actually quite well done.

There were quite a lot of great little touches like that bit with the nurse - some probably a bit too subtle for their own good but unfortunately let down by flawed execution of other elements.

Not quite seeing the point of this series. Surely now it's moved so fast it's almost upto speed with the start of the walking dead.

Was hoping for a slower pace more scientific analysis of what was happening approach rather than just 3 episodes then basically TWD

Was disappointed that it was basically upto walking dead territory so fast - wanted to see the break down of civilisation in a bit more detail and the way(s) they adapted to it :S not so bothered about the origins side of it myself.

They should have had a longer season and then arrived at this ending I think. That was we got to see how things went to **** a bit longer. But I get the feeling it was a budget thing, can't be cheap trying to make the transition look believable over many episodes. Even in the short time they covered do it, as many point out, there was not enough people.
