I thought it was 14 days from the date on the ticket?

yeh, sorry that's what I meant, but that 14 days is until the postal mark on the letter, not until it arrives. So it could take 3-4 days to arrive. Hence leaving 18-20days as they don't deliver Sundays.

Im in a similar situation to you.9 of my points come off around November and work tied me to a desk "for my own good". I agree with you about the way these sneaky $%&"%^ hide away in their little vans, makes you want to reverse back and choke them 1/2 to death.

I perhaps wouldn't put it so strongly, after all I was breaking the law but it is a bit trial by cctv.

I told my boss and he rolled his eyes and laughed..

drives a 911 C4S so you get the picture.

The worst bit is I could have been using my mobile, smoking crack and drunk whilst driving on no licence or insurance with a fake tax disc and what would the police have got?

Nothing.

Disagree with you on some things I might, on this however I have to fully agree and offer to buy you a large pint (plus ,perhaps, a go on my crack pipe ;) ) :D

The unmarked cars are worse than the vans. Got 5 points for racing a unmarked BMW up the A1 just past Grantham at 3am. My Solicitor told the court that " as my client was driving a £70,000 car and he felt he was being tailgated by people with the intention to steal it,he panicked and tried to outrun them"

I thought yeh im sure they never heard that 1 before.

And the outcome was....................

No more foolish than i felt when the BMW came flying up behind me again, this time with 2 pretty blue lights dancing in the grill.

How far from the van, in Cumbria I came over a crest as a dual carriageway turns into a normal road.

I was doing about 80mph, and as soon as I saw the van slowed to 60. Still about 300m from the van. Now I've heard they have a long range (they did a local boy in a Nova from quite some distance), but I've received no ticket.

I notice in your first post in this thread you seem to be expecting your existing points to be taken off your licence after 2 years. Is that correct? I ask because I have 3 and I though it was 4 years until they're removed.

You are right, hes stating the offences were 2 years ago and on the DVLA website it states 3 years until points are no longer valid for totting up. This would mean that the first offence in october 2005 would not expire until october 2008.

So you need to delay for a year...

and 4 years before you can have them physically removed from your license. After 3 they are no longer "valid for totting up purposes" but remain on your license.

and you have to declare them to insurance companies for 5 years :(

Well it's looking good for you then - looks likw you may well have got away with it.
Of course you've learnt your lesson, you'll never do it again...until next time.
