FFS think I've been done for speeding AGAIN.. HELP!

basically...
1) avoiding the points is unlikely, although you could delay things just bear in mind the courts HATE being dicked around..
2) you might not agree with some speed limits, i don't either to be honest, but that doesn't change the fact that they're in place. this still leaves you free to disobey them if you decide to, just bear in mind that there's a chance you'll be caught and punished accordingly.

that's unfortunately the way it is (unless of course you're a traffic plod "assessing" a car...like that's not a comedy remark but hey ho), for all of us and until the laws on speeding are changed we all have the same choices.
we can moan away about advancments in braking systems and how cars are so much safer etc nowadays, but until the limits are changed it means nothing. you get fined because your cars speedo needle crosses a certain itty bitty mark on the dial on a given road, and that's as complex as it gets.

You just summed up how I feel but more eloqently :D

I thought delaying was pointless as they apply the points from the date off the offence but the ban from the court appearance, so any delay would be worthless?

I'm quite possibly wrong though.

have you got a wife? if so tell them it was her who was driving if she has some points spare
perverting the course of justice usually involves you spending a few months picking up soap for a sweaty man named big mick.

Depends if you go to court or not I think. My points were backdated to the date I got caught speeding on both occasions. That was just a NIP followed by a fine & 3 points with no court hearing. When Leon had to go to court over his speeding, the points were dated from the court hearing date.

Goto court, plead with them about needing your license for work etc etc. I still have mine and i have 17 points on it. Just dont try to BS the Magistrates as they have heard it all before and in my experience look kinder on you for fessing up.

perjury?

no ta!

general point

they usually give you 28 days to name the driver. Give it about 24 ish before you name them and send the form off 1st class post

they then send you another letter offering you the penalty and and asking you to pay / send off your license. That again usually gives you 28 days or so to comply

so again wait 24 days or so

should delay it by 2 months :)

i have read through the entire thread, and i dont want to sound self righteous, but i have no sympathy for people who get caught speeding

why did you get caught? because you where going too fast

end of.

if you dont want to get caught, then obey the law

sorry to be so harsh

Matt i have got away with 2 sp30 by not sending the form back to them. Obviously i do not condone this sort of thing but....

Is the NiP 3 weeks or 2 weeks i can never remember?

Awesome! good skills!

the NIP could take years.. as long as it is issued within 14 days then I believe it stands.

Issued after 2 weeks and they can whistle.

14 days, but that's from the post mark not when it arrives. So allow 18-20 days to be safe.

I thought it was 14 days from the date on the ticket?

incidentally a colleague at work got a NIP for jumping a red light about 14 months ago and wrote back saying broadly "I don't doubt it was me driving the car but I don't believe I would jump a red so can you please provide some proof".

Not a whisper back from plod. I reckon she must be in the clear by now, I wouldn't condone jumping lights but I believe her when she says she didn't do it.. the journey is scorched in her head as it was her birthday and she was going to a party and she was in no rush and.. well, she just remembers the journey lol. Not a random drive to work.
