Use them next race. They aren't dead batteries.
Nearly all of the car battery packs are made up if standard cells, so can be split down and reused.

Sweet, racing 12 months a year, as it only partially overlaps with f1
September-June schedual

Opening race will be London, and I'll be trying to get tickets, I doubt it'll be hard, I can't see the viewing figures being great to start with.

Interesting video and I agree with them, I expect it to attract a younger audience and I expect battery tech to improve visibly between season. Maybe get some of these mot prototypes in large enough quantities to race, in which case you could see battery life double in one season.

I don't think you can really compare those series to this one. they had many many issues. Many of which this series shouldn't suffer from. That doesn't mean it'll last, just that I don't think this can be compared to those.

Bluebird to build its own protoype in time for the FIA council in September. Hoping to get accepted as both a team and a supplier, if any other teams in 2014 don't want a spark.

While it would run its own team, it is also hoping to produce up to 16 cars for customer use 2014 and is already in discussions with two potential teams. The first car is expected to be ready in September.

"Bluebird is renowned for supporting new technology and has done so across the whole of its 100-year history," said project director Martin Rees.

"We see the opportunity to apply our significant knowledge and experience in electric technology directly into Formula E and it makes sense for the Bluebird name to use its own technology, rather than anyone else's.

"Bluebird offers an alternative to the current manufacturing option which we hope the FIA will consider at their September World Motor Sport Council meeting."

Bluebird is forming a partnership with GP3 and World Touring Car Championship squad Bamboo Engineering.

"We are looking forward to being associated with the first running of the prototype Bluebird Formula E car later this year and building a strong partnership for the future," said Bamboo chief Richard Coleman.

First broadcaster announced.
fox gets exclusivity in USA and will also broadcast to more than 80countries with a mix of exclusivity and non exclusivit.

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109227
The FIA's Formula E Championship has agreed a deal with Fox Sports that will ensure coverage in over 80 countries next year.

The new series for all-electric vehicles will be broadcast live exclusively on the network in the USA and across a series of exclusive and non-exclusive platforms in other regions.

Alejandro Agag, CEO of series promoter Formula E Holdings, said: "We are very proud to announce this major agreement between Fox and the FIA Formula E Championship and to be partnering a truly global organisation that fully believes in the future of racing."

"America is a key market for electric cars and to show our races live in the US will be central to promoting this type of mobility."

I hope they have some sort of pay per view. Rather than needing 6million useless tv channels.

Another deal signed, Qualcomm will provide wireless charging and augmented reality, through an app of real time data. But not straight away.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-24013661
Smartphone chipmaker Qualcomm has signed a sponsorship deal with the forthcoming Formula E championship.

The FIA international motorsports body plans to launch the electric-car competition next year as an alternative to Formula 1.

Qualcomm will provide wireless-charging and augmented-reality technology to help the teams taking part and the public watching the races.

It has also pledged an undisclosed sum of money as part of the five-year deal.

However, the intention is to use the tech to recharge only the competition's safety vehicle during the first year of the championship before extending it to the competitors' cars in either year two or three.

He added the information would also be able to be accessed by the public through the planned roll-out of its Vuforia software.

The app promises to offer an "augmented reality" view of the race, allowing spectators to carry on watching the car of their choice even if buildings or other objects obstruct their view by holding up their smartphone or tablet to make the vehicle visible.

Thats a shame, looks like London will be the last race of the season now, rather than the first due to logistics.
Perhaps its because of the f1 complaints about next year with all the flying between races.

Wonder who will have the first race, it must be one of the far ones, as they must be clumping all the euro races together which due to London being at the London, must be the second half of the season. Was looking forward to seeing the first ever race live.

Aw that early, looks good to me, another 4 teams to be announced, soon. Whatever soon means, that leaves just two other teams to pick, apparently from over 20 applicants fighting for those two spots.

Hell yeah. They'll be number 1 team to support, followed by drayson.

Now in the second season i want them or another group. To get these prototype batteries out of the lab and into the car. Even if they cant mass produce them at the moment. Change are car, pfft.
