Fidelity Super Resolution in 2021

I don't understand why people are fooling themselves. Why not run the game at lower res, the RT effects will look worse than native anyway especially reflections. I understand it is a big selling point, everyone wants to run games at "4k" or "1440p" but if your card can't do it native, why fooling yourself? It won't happen, it is not as good as native no matter how many times you'll say it is better than native. :)

instead of look how we can help people who run a 1060

That was the biggest thing I got out of this. Lower end Nvidia users that can't get DLSS can use FSR. Even if they are die hard Nvidia fans and would never buy AMD it means they can hold onto their GPU longer, still denying Nvidia a sale. Bearing in mind the GTX 1060 is most owned DGPU out there that's big news.

native 4k is pretty much out of the window with new consoles

they're pushing 1200-1440p 60 fps in every game out there

every developer out there will target 1440p 60 fps for 6800xt/3080 on their console ports

only way to hack it and make it work at 4K will be dlss/fsr

this way, xbox and ps5 also wins, because they will claim they use special tech to upscale to 4k so they will be promoting as actual 4k and not dynamic 4k :)

by the way, AMD's own words. FSR is only confirmed so far for 10 games this year.

As it requires a per game implementation, it's facing the same uphill battle that Nvidia, however they should be able to pick it up quicker given wider GPU support

Yep, even worse - console developers have started piling into the "4k" marketing gimmick so now almost every 60 fps game is quoted as "4k" when in fact they're all just using upscaling from between 1080p and 1440p to 2160p

I see people are still getting their panties in a twist over how dlss/fsr works..... don't like it, don't use it, it's that simple, no one is forcing you to use it..... For people who want higher FPS or/and to use ray tracing, it is there to help achieve that goal.

Nvidia are adding dlss to rdr 2 (this will see a massive iq boost because of the awful AA methods in rdr 2), doom eternal and rainbow six siege too so between fsr and dlss, good times ahead.

Taken from AMD 4k uploads

FSR Off Left, FSR ON right

Damn son, that's some strong ass Vaseline!

The rumors were true, FSR's image quality needs some work.
Rumour mill said AMD was delaying FSR till the end of the year to try and improve image quality, not anymore launch it asap was the message.

That is a lie

what they said is that it is supported by over 10 game studios and engines.

Grim5 with the nit picking to me that image looks like its taken in motion so you will see some motion blur from running ultra settings.

Can we least wait this this is out for review? Either way I am quite excited to give this a try.

Looks like Doom is also getting ray tracing aswell as DLSS. Shame that I only recently finished the game - still as you say good times ahead

Ah so as usual grim is twisting things to suit his own narrative, showing the 1060 using fsr somehow becomes the 1060 being “benchmarked” against the 6800.

Pretty sad grim, pretty sad.

+1. As usual the resident Nvidia shill is trying to find something negative since it's positive news from AMD. The 1060 video was purely to show everyone that FSR works on Nvidia cards. It is obvious to anyone with an ounce of sense that the demo shows the fps increase between native and FSR.

FSR is potentially a great new feature for those who need the performance but it is not possible to see the benefit with a game like Godfall. We need to high resolution side by side comparison to make any judgements.
Those complaining of blurriness in performance modes should look at DLSS which is also a blurry mess in anything other than Quality mode. I don't use it at all at 1440P on my 3080FE for this reason.

The fact this is free, works on almost every single Radeon GPU that is a lot of AMD users about to get free performance and then it also works on nvidia GPU

How can anyone dislike this?

Tell you what just go into any of the chats from videos AMD is getting massive credit here and rightly so.

GTX 10 series enjoy your free performance.

pretty much no one uses 4k at the minute in the great scheme of things but it is becoming more common on living rooms tvs not that i know a single person with a 4k tv tbh

on the steam survey 1440p is only about 8% the large majority of people use 1080p by choice about 70% of everyone on the steam survey

with my last monitor upgrade I nearly stayed at 1080p and for a lot of people its all they need for esports titles

This statement is about 5 years too old. EVERYONE i know has a 4k TV and a lot with monitors too.

Unless everyone you know is poor AF?

some people just like to moan

they also tend to be the people with massive disposable incomes who can afford a 3090 based system

you either mix in rich circles or large credit card bills who like to willy waggle about how big and posh my tv is ;) tbh I just change one when the old one dies

saying that its the same thing with cars lost count of how many people I know who lease a posh car for £400-600 a month and then complain they have no money

monitor side of things everyone I know plays competative first person shooters so 4k is a complete no go zone
