FIFA World Cup 2014 - GROUP D [Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, Italy - 14/19/20/24 June] **spoilers**

He doesn't speak particularly well and he came across quite smug and unlikeable. Hopefully he'll improve and keep club rivalry aside if he's here for the duration then.

Italy - 33% chance to qualify as first
England - 33% chance to qualify as first
Uruguay - 33% chance to qualify as first
Costa Rica - 1% chance to qualify as first

Same exact table for second place :p

Not sure why everyone is seeing Costa Rica as pushovers. They beat Mexico in qualifying, and while Mexico aren't exactly fantastic at the moment, they're not too shabby.

While they probably aren't going to progress, they're more than capable of tripping up any of the other three.

Team who loses points against Costa Rica will be out of it imo. But I can't see them as first placed :p

Costa Rica might cause an upset, as they'll have a good chance to beat us and would mean a victory over Uruguay or Italy sends them through.

I think that's hugely pessimistic. There are a lot of people being remarkably negative on here about our chances in that group. We're not a worse team than Uruguay.

We *might* not get out the group - it's by no means a sure thing - and if we don't then I'm sure that people will delight in telling everyone how right they were, but to write us off at this stage isn't right.

I agree with his sentiments to be fair.

Hodgson wont even try to win the game against Italy, Uruguay will chase us off the park and we will beat Costa Rica.

Atm, I'm leaning towards Sterling on the bench. If he starts, we don't really have any blistering pace to bring on, which could be a game-changer in the heat. Sterling coming on fresh in 70th minute against Italy when everyone is knackered sounds pretty good to me!

^That's the spirit!

It all depends if he does what he says his planning on doing and actually go for it against Italy, I doubt he will but it would be nice to see. This should all be about the younger players gaining valuable experience.

Reckon we'll get out of the group fine. Italy, although a good side, aren't anywhere near as strong as they have been in previous years. Uruguay have a sub-standard midfield and an ok defence. Costa Rica are middling, but could spring a few surprises.

It's an open group, and I reckon we'll come through fine as long as we keep our focus and confidence as we've got as strong a squad as anyone in that group. If the confidence/focus go, then we could find ourselves properly struggling though.

Have you seen the state of the pitch in Menaus?
