FIFA World Cup 2018 - Final [15 July] **spoilers**

That ball came in from the wing, without a deflection so there’s no defence of not having time, because ultimately if your hand is away from the body it’s deemed to be in un-natural position, which is considered enough to be deliberate.

Not seeing the flight of the ball isn’t even an excuse, otherwise wall’s at free kicks would just turn round...

But he'd have been expecting a deflection, and his hands which were up were coming back down to a natural position just as the ball came over the head of a player who was unsighting him.

Not seeing something deliberately is clearly different to having your sight impeded.

Croatia behind but they're looking by far the better team. Croatia's goal was pure class. France got a lucky own goal and a penalty. I think Croatia are going to win this yet.

And the free kick that load to the unlucky first goal was a Griezmann dive anyhow.

I know roughly France is going to win,

i did say extra time and penalties and so far this will ring true and it has once,

I predicted it being 3-1 or 3-2 either way i know france will win.

France have 2 goals from controversial decisions, but other than that, they've had nothing other than 'lob it up to mbappe and hope for the best'.

Croatia should be able to come back.

It doesn’t actually matter though as regards a penalty decision.

Or are you going to argue that it’s not a foul if a defender brings down a player when he doesn’t expect him to flick the ball past him?

You don't need intent for a foul though, you do for handball

And he's plainly jumping???

Yes I know, but that’s the guidelines referees are given.

He wasn’t even jumping at the time...

He wasnt jumping... What? He was in the air and therefore had jumped.

It wasn't deliberate, he was clearly trying to put his leg towards the flight of the the ball and his hand wasn't in an unnatural position.

It wasn't clear and obvious mistake from the ref. Therefore VAR shouldn't have been referred to in the first place.

Maybe it's me, but his hand that touched the ball didn't move downwards quite quickly.
