Same for me on Phoenix just now at 19.40. Straight in without any errors!
Signs of good things to come.
... So basically, you've finished the game in less than a week.
Now what?
Seems a bit silly considering how open-ended the game is.
That comment makes no sense at all.
I reached level 50 and finished the main story, it is still an MMO with endgame content, I still have:
Lv50 Dungeons
Hard Mode Primals
Raids
6 Main Classes to level
11 Crafting professions to level
So yeah I'm pretty sure I haven't "finished the game" yet.
It's stupid but this kind of comment is true to most mmo's nowadays, mmo's with all focus on leveling and zero endgame content
Luckily not the case with FFXIV

That's absolutely appalling - After a long career with wow I've not seen immaturity to that level. Some people may be new to MMO's, don't read tactics before hand, and the ramped difficulty level that comes with HM's may just be too much for a casual? Who knows but that's no way to encourage people to learn and do well.
Bit of a up date on BT actually managed to speak to someone today that knew what I was on about with p2p. I have had to redo my contract which now has no p2p restrictions but on the plus side got it £8 cheaper for the year, I will find out tonight if its actually worked or not and post later or tomorrow with a update for people on BT.
I read something that said it takes quite a few days (10 on the one I read) to come into effect.
Nice going getting it cheaper though. Tempted to just give that number posted earlier a ring and try getting it cheaper too. Solve 2 problems with 1 phonecall

You can pay extra to have more than 8 characters - it works out about £1.30 extra a month to have 40 character slots on your account.

However, remember that 1 character can achieve max level in all classes/jobs, thus reducing the need to have innumerable alts (unless you intend to play on different servers).
Indeed, with the class/job system it is possible to have all classes and professions on the one character. Though levelling it would be a nightmare as you'd have no quests to do and would need to grind all the levels for the majority of classes (not including the 1 class quests every 5 levels)
I did read an interesting thread on reddit recently regarding how at endgame there are many money sinks such as repairs/travel etc, but no money fountains where you can pump new coin into the economy (the auction house doesn't count as that's just circulating money already in an economy and actually reducing it by 5% because of the cut it takes)
This could be the only real reason to level alts since you'd be getting all the quests again and that sweet, sweet gold!
The crafting classes benefit massively from being leveled on the same character.
Each one gets 3 unique skills that can be used by all the crafting classes. First one unlocks at level 15, second 2 are very late game (40 and 50 I think). Currently got 3 crafting classes to 15 (Carpenter, Alchemist and Culinarian). So I get a skill that converts Inner Quiet boosts into CP, a skill that gives me 20 CP free so long as the condition of the item is 'Good' and a Touch skill that costs 0 CP but a 50% chance of success. Can be very beneficial to have the variety. Once I get to higher levels and get better gear to boost CP max and materia to increase it also you'll get a lot of options to craft HQ gear with better chances.

The person I spoke to said it takes effect immediately and did the stuff while I was on the phone to them.
Tbh given the general knowledge of the support staff either could be right or they could both be wrong ><

What are they adding? I couldn't make out half of what was being said with that sound.
Really? Uhmm... Might be forgetting some here but;
- More dungeons (endgame)
- Raid instance
- 2 new Primal fights
- Housing
- 4v4 Arena
- 8v8 Arena
and from what I've researched on some of those additions;
dungeons will be significantly more difficult than the likes of Amdapor Keep, the raid instance will be harder than the 5th level of Bahumat's Coil (bare in mind the world 1st guild is currently stuck in the 2nd Coil of Bahumat), one of the primals is likely to be an instanced version of Odin and one of Siren, but that's speculation. Abilities are modified in pvp for balance reasons and housing sounds similar to that of Wildstar's (can modify many aspects of your house, collect rare spawn/boss trophies, for bonuses. teleportation crystal outside house, market, etc.)
