Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn

Had my first run of Brayflox last night and while we wiped twice on the 1st boss we found our footing and completed it nicely. You need 100% concentration to be a healer, 1 slip up and the team is a gonna

i was kinda of disappointed with this game i expected more the delay is horrible combat doesn't feel smooth at all and i guess its mostly to do with the fact the eu server aint based in eu? makes no sense to me and really puts me off playing even for a die hard fan as myself.. but maybe things will get better later on or the new patch fixes these problems though i don't see that happening unless they move the servers to eu.

I've made another character that I'm keeping guildless for now as I like the peace and quiet and not being tied to anything. The linkshell icon is greyed out at the moment, can't recall if I need to be a certain levle first. Can someone add me later? Character is called Asuka Cranekick, which I shamelessly stole from the Disgaea series.
Was wondering also, how do they release new content? Is it like WOW with major patches because I only recall one expansion for FF XI and that was out for ages.

Well, the first additional content is coming as simple updates - 2.1 is due out in the next couple months, with Crystal Tower/first PVP stuff/FC housing etc.

FFXI had 5 expansions I can think of - Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urghan, Wings of the Goddess, and Seekers of Adoulin. There was also Abyssea, which wasn't quite an expansion pack due to not adding story (according to wikipedia, I quit that game relatively early during ToAH)

Is anyone still playing this game?
I joined on Leviathan with a load of my old FFXI friends but most of them have gone back to WoW :<

If anyone has any openings in their FC/Coil group i'd be willing to transfer servers.

Yeah the hype for this game seemed to have just vanished overnight. One moment the servers couldn't handle the load/massive queues to make new accounts and then it just faded into obscurity.

what happened?

I'm sure it will pick up again on the 17th.

I guess people just got feed up of mainly running AK and WP all the time. :)

Yeah, there's basically only one end game raid at the moment, The Binding Coil of Bahamut so i presume most people stopped playing due to lack of content.

Hopefully 2.1 will bring it back to life and give people more to do. I just need a group of people to play with now most of my old linkshell members from FFXI have gone to play WoW!

What class are you? We're a small FC that was running with a set 8man team for coil (cleared 1-4 within the first few weeks and were making good progress on Twintania) until recently when our summoners sub run out and now he doesn't want to play anymore :(

Yeah but FFXI also had a **** load more game content before an expansion even came out. The fact you were also not bored after a month of playing is the difference.
