Final Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn

It does look pretty sweet!

Where did you leave yourself off at? I'm hanging around the level 27/28 area at the moment. My armour kinda makes me look a bit like a Big Daddy from Bioshock!

Got my White Mage to 50, and my Dragoon is like a few pixels off 45 (wanted a DD role so I could solo stuff or actually do some damage when 80% of the FATE players are healers) and made a start on some professions. Should really try and make an effort to be on more, but my backlog is forever increasing :p I knew it was a bad idea going down the "having all platforms" route...

Think I know the armour you're talking about haha :D looks like a chubby iron golem, or a knight that really let himself go (the Darklight version is hilarious too).

My 30 day sub ends on Saturday and I just don't think I'm going to renew it. I've got my archer to lvl 24 but I'm just not feeling the love. The guild I'm in has probably been the best one I've been with throughout all my MMO adventures. Always people willing to help me do the dungeons instead of waiting for ages (dps outcast). I must admit I've only been putting in an hour or so every night and I've not tried any other characters so probably not getting the most out of the game. However, I'll be on my tod this weekend so I'll be able to have a good blast before I decide to renew or not.

So now that the "OMG NEW MMO" factor has worn off, how are we all finding it?

I had the original FFXIV and so had free access to this reboot for a week or two. I played maybe a few hours before realising it was just another conveyor belt MMO with nothing interesting that isn't already offered elsewhere.

That said, it did seem to garner a lot of interest and praise in reviews (which I found odd!) so I was wondering if I should look over the never ending wall of text in quest dialogue and cut scenes to see if there was light at the end of the tunnel.

I'll be around tonight if you fancy doing some dungeons etc :) I'm a tank so we should get insta-pops! :D

While I wish I had more time to sink into this, I do keep coming back to it and playing it for a good few hours/as much as I can. I'm only level 25/26 or something (above screenshot) but even having done the same story quests twice over with different characters i'm really enjoying it.

Love the crafting, the storyline is keeping me interested, as well as the class specific storylines. It just seems quite a refreshing change!

I've heard the end-game is a lot of repetitive dungeon crawls to get some of the better gear though, but the new pvp stuff that is due for release looks really nice.

Worth the small price of £15 for the 30 days for sure.

For some reason I couldnt get this updated last night, got the game set up and installed but it just kept timing out all of the time. Any idea why?

Sorry, I've no idea, might be worth checking the launcher, there is normally something in there that will list current problems etc. If not maybe check the forums?

Time for me to take a break from FFXIV. My 30 days have run out, not subscribing until my graphics card is sorted.

Gives me time to get through some of the less demanding games I've picked up from sales/bundles though lol.

I couldn't bring myself to continue playing it and didn't bother renewing my subscription. There seem to be a lot of people still enjoying it though :)

I've played my fair share of MMOs that feel like I've nothing to aim for after a month, but I've played this nearly every day since release and only just getting started with end game.

I've thoroughly enjoyed it, the 1-50 story quest was great for an MMO and it's the first time I actually wanted to find out what happens, it doesn't feel like filler as with most others. It's much more challenging in dungeons/bosses than most mainstream MMOs, there's rarely any boss that you can just tank and spank, you need to know what you're doing. This can be rage inducing, and attracts elitist tools, but in the end feels much more rewarding than having your hand held because it actually takes learning and teamwork rather than just lots of time.

I've enjoyed trying the different classes, levelled 3 to 50 before deciding what I'd enjoy playing in the long end game (highest level gear can take months to complete) and levelled a gatherer to 50 to supply my other classes with precious gil.

I'm not saying this the second coming for MMOs, it has no PvP yet (due to have arenas patched in) so if you're a PvP junkie this will never be for you. Leveling alts is a grind, and you'll be running some end-game dungeons until your eyes bleed. Overall you need to have a soft spot for FF and just see if the game appeals to you or not.

I have enjoyed playing this not sure if I have picked the best class for my first try. So far I have reached level 14 as a warrior because I want to go tank, I like it so far but it is rather slow questing.
With making alts I like to have a characters rather than all on one. Crafting (jobs) I love this side of it. I will give it till my months up and see what I want to do but so far I like.
What is the sub for this?

PvP I love but it’s a nice change to play the Pve in a new game. I will see what the next patch is going to be like. How can you tell if I am following the main quest is it the one that is blue?
