Fire risks prompt tumble dryer recall - Now washing machines as well!

Just had mine replaced/delivered (a FETV60CP).

I thought I'd put the model number and serial number in the Hotpoint online "is your tumble dryer affected" web form.

It says "Unfortunately your appliance is one of the affected models" !!!!

If I type in a made up serial it says I'm not affected so the checker seems to be using the serial.

Oh well back to Hotpoint and see what they say.

Not happy.

It seems that I'd missed a green paper dot stuck to the back of the machine that means it has been modified and is ok.

Keeping a list of the serial numbers of modded machines would seem to be more sensible :(

I've had an email today regarding my Indesit idc75, looks like they can repair it in February or I can buy a Hotpoint TDWSF83BEP 8kg Condenser Tumble Dryer for £99. I cant seem to find any online presence for that model?

Weird, it could be a brand new model that hasn't hit the market yet.
We used to make all the Indesit products with different numbers for different stores so Currys & Argos would have the same product but different model numbers but you'd still find them on the Internet.

A bit of digging and the closest I cant find to that model is from Italy a whirlpool HDLX 70311 but can only see it as a 7kg version

The best thing about the IDC75 was cheap parts which might be hard to find for this model? Mine was bought in 2009 so im tempted to update it but also wondering if they would replace it for free if I wait it out....

I have just had a hotpoint dryer delivered. There is a round green sticker on the back does that mean im ok ?

If i use the online checker it cannot find my machine...

I checked mine, it was one with the problem, all I got was an email back on 24 Nov saying not to leave it unattended and they will contact me in the next 5 weeks.
Still waiting.

"Thank you for recently registering your tumble dryer to be modified to improve its safety and quality performance. We are writing to inform you that we are experiencing delays in scheduling the free of charge modifications. While we cannot provide a definite revised modification date at this time, we are making every effort to have your tumble dryer scheduled for modification as soon as possible. This delay does not meet our quality and service standards, we apologise for this inconvenience and we thank you for your patience.
The safety of our customers is our number one priority. Every customer matters to us. Therefore, the necessary modifications will be made on the first-registered, first-served basis."

I guess this was only to be expected with the sheer amount of work that needs doing.

Checked the link they have for ETA:

"Due to high demand it is currently estimated that we will be able to complete the modifications to your tumble dryer in March."
"You need take no further action if this is your preferred option.
Alternatively

If your dryer is over 2 years old and you would prefer not to wait until March for your repair; as a goodwill gesture, we are able to offer a brand new Hotpoint tumble dryer at a reduced price. For the reduced price, we will deliver, install, remove your existing appliance and replace it with a new dryer."

Ha.... Even if it was over 2 years old I do not think I would be buying another!

I had a missed call on my mobile. Checked it out and looks like it was from Hotpoint. This was a month ago, not heard from them since. Looked like I missed my spot. I have since reregistered.

Hotpoint have no intention of fixing the dryers, they will drag it out until your dryer is end of life.
