More chippings

Few meetings canceled today and was so sunny it seemed rude not to get outside and chop a few more logs ....

All shapes and sizes

Got the vast majority now cut into ~30cm lengths

Just these seven big berthas to have a giant over the next few days

Another barrow of chippings for the garden :D

Stacked the freshly split logs .

They easily go three deep with some gap for airflow

Got 2 and a bit "bays" done which goes to show how much the big store holds

As well as the usual spiders, wood louse and other creepy crawlies, I came across a few of these too

As you can see it's a bit of a sun trap and will be sore and likely burnt tomorrow

Last barrow of sweeping and a gnarly piece for the woo and area

IMG20240623154937.jpg

Swept and tidied and moved some old pots behind the gazebo

Just need to get rid of the men at work sign ( :( ) old bbq and incinerator now

Certainly have wood now

It's whether a get a small load to fill up bay three, the medium store by the kitchen (above) and small store 4 (empty) in the front verandah - hmmmmm :D

About a month ago I had stove and chimney swept. Finally got round to cleaning it up and repainting it - Spent today sticking newspaper all around chimney breast and hearth and anything else the heat resistant spray paint could get to.
Pleased now it looks almost like new.
Roll on winter - log stores are full to brim and Ronnie is giving hint's in evening he want's it lit, :)

Anyone getting fuel and any supplies place online you're using also do oils & fuels?

Online place I used to get my wood stuff/supplies has gone, used to always do a good deal on fuel/Stihl Motomix (5L for £12-15!) so it was almost cheaper than getting some classic 2 stroke stuff from petrol station... Got some of that and my saw keeps choking up. Messed around cleaning it out (blaming dirty fuel) then borrowed a tank, still the same... So back to trying to find some Motomix before getting my saw serviced somewhere. It's barely done any hard work so going to be miffed if it needs parts!

After 30 years of service the old back boiler fire sprung a leak a few months back.

So had that ripped out and a multi fuel stove fitted.

The installer I used was awesome, did everything he said he would when he would and only took him 2 days. But the stove supplier have been a nightmare, got messed around with delivery for a week, then they forgot to send the flue kit. When the fire was delivered I called them and said it says ont he box standard, I ordered the multi fuel. They said not to worry the multi fuel kit will be in the crate. It wasnt. They have said they will send it out by DPD but still waiting, fingers crossed it turns up as I will be burning more coal than wood.

They had a nightmare getting the old one out, it weighed a ton and barely fit through the door. They way they installed that back in the day was by getting it in place, then knocking a whole in the chimney above it, so they could pour in vermiculate around and above it, After decades of use, soot falling down on it and moisture from the leak it had hardened and entombed it in place.

We have started looking at removing the gas fire from our new house and replacing it with a multi-fuel fire. We've just got the first quote back for everything (only thing remaining is the slate surround) at £3.5k. No idea until we get a coupe of other quotes if that's any good.

I think that's about what we paid. They had a delay on the stove and offered a free upgrade to a Heat so was super chuffed.
