You must be having a laugh??? A non racing puma better handling than a Civic Type-R and a fiesta st?

Or a 182 one of the best handling hatches ever. Or a mini cooper s or a vx220turbo hahahahaha. ;) :)

....I must be....

The fiesta ST really isnt imo that fantastic, and the VX220 Turbo is a little fast for 'real world daily driving ;) )

as for the formula ford... any chance of making this road legal? :p

In a way I agree about the fiesta, handling is very good, but it's the grip more than anything. However add some eibach springs and becomes much better.

Not talking about road worthyness, you said the pumas the best car handling wise you have ever driven. Im disputing that saying a lot of the cars you say you have driven would have had better handling.

If you can make an Aerial atom, radical or Catherham road legal, im sure you could do the same with a Formula ford with some work:)

ford offer that as an option now iirc... saw some of the guys on FFOC chatting about it a while back :)

fair enough :) maybe im making a bit of a sweeping statement, but I still stand by what ive said, its one of the best handling cars ive driven :)

Hang on a second.....you bought a (non-racing) Ford Puma when you had the choice out of ALL those cars?

quite :)

I've driven all those cars over the last 18 months or so... im only swapping as I crashed the focus the other day (read up this thread) and im currently trying to save to move out, as id decided not to change cars until I had my own home... (seems mad to blow 20k on a car when I live at home..)

edit - just checking, all those mocking have obviously driven these cars too.. or are we arm chair drivers here commenting on something we dont know about.... ;) :p

Ah right, that explains it then. Didn't realise you'd decided to move out first, good choice :)

;)

just got a few random quotes from whatcar and evo about the puma for those who want to base their opinions on those of others....

What Car - http://www.whatcar.com/car-review-full.aspx?RT=135#Road

Ride & handling
No other small coupe we can think of is as much fun to drive as a Puma. Ford took what was available in the Fiesta and sharpened it all up to make a car with almost kart-like steering, tremendous roadholding and strong brakes. The only downside is a firmer and noisier ride.

Evo - http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/usedcars_roadtest/archive/?id=27993&x=158&y=7

We have few bad things to say about the new Ford Fiesta – other than it killed off one of the best-handling small cars on the road....

these are about the standard 1.7i VCT Puma, not the Racing version :)

ISTR Top Gear (the old version) voting it their car of the year.

I have a mental image of Tiff caning it round a track with Clarkson and someone else in the back.

Don't get me wrong, i'm sure it's a great handling car. All i'm saying is that i personally could never see myself walking away with the keys of a standard Ford Puma when i had the choice of all of those other cars. Of course, you never had the choice as your priorities changed, which i can totally understand :)

Not denying it is a good car with good handling, but better handling than a clio 182 or mini cooper s not sure about that. :)

what are your suspicions? ;)

Not what you have selected :p

Good choice imho, tis a nice looking car and supost to handle very well, only thing i don't like is the fiesta dash, never have.

Looking forward to pics soon :)

I can agree with you there, ive driven a Racing Puma and a Cooper S and have to say the Cooper S is in a different league. Although id look gayer than a meatball driving a Cooper i have to say its an excellent car for the cash.

Not driven the 182 myself but i know everyone rates it, you dont get many folk raving about Puma's in the same way :cool:Got a neighbour with a Clio Williams and id say thats a lot more fun handling wise than a Puma too, id also say its safe to assume the 182 handles a lot better than the williams.
