Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao May 2 MGM Grand Las Vegas

For me Khan does deserve the fight because there really isn't that many options for Mayweather out there he's never gettin in the ring with Mani and he's beaten all the decent contenders so much like the Klitchko's he's left fighting the rest.

Khan is a decent fighter, not great but good enough he's had a decent career and this should be a final payday to see him into retirement.

People saying khan is super fast etc.. So is floyd, he may be defensive but his hand speed etc? Floyd may not knock him out early because of whatever but he could if he wanted to imo.

No one is saying Mayweather is slow, he's very quick and his reflexes are amazing. I'm saying he hasn't fought an opponent who is also very quick in a long time.

As for him knocking Khan out early if he wanted to, well I don't really agree with that. In Mayweathers last 10 fights going back to 2005, who has he knocked out early? Only one person, Victor Ortiz and that was via a sucker punch. In fact, the only other knockout was Hatton and that was in round 10, the other 8 fights were all by decision.

Just because you are the best pound for pound fighter in the world and imo one of the best boxers of all time, it doesn't mean you can knock anyone out at will.

he's very much a defensive boxer that counter punches rather than someone who attacks constantly.

that's why he doesn't get knockouts, it's not his style of boxing.

his defence is arguably the best in the world, he hardly ever lets the opponent get a clean hit on him. that's how he wins, if the opponent can't hit him then they cannot win simple as that really.

mayweather is never the best the world has ever seen though, he dodged a lot of boxers when they were in their prime (manny, de la hoya, etc) and he has also forced a lot of boxers to fight him at a different weight from what they normally fight at giving himself a huge advantage.

he waited until a lot of his big opponents were past it before fighting them too.

manny would have been the ultimate match up because manny hurts people, floyd doesn't because he doesn't have the power manny has, floyd slowly grinds people down, whereas manny beats them down. manny is a fighter and floyd is a boxer.

the deal never materialised though and yet another dodge from mayweather.

mayweather has played his career like chess, tactfully and waited until he had the advantage before making fights with the big guys.

lets take the de la hoya fight

de la hoya is 4 years older than mayweather, he was 34 and mayweather 29. de la hoya had lost 2 of his previous 4 fights before fighting mayweather.

he was in decline.

now lets take bernard hopkins he is also older than mayweather and he publicly challenged mayweather to a fight at 160lbs

this is the lowest weight hopkins had ever fought at and mayweather has never fought at that weight ever but has fought at 154lbs. he never took the fight because he knew hopkins would have the advantage even though he is older than mayweather by 13 years.

i mean imagine dodging a guy 13 years older than you because you wouldn't jump up 6lbs. yet he forces other boxers to jump up weight or drop weight to fight him.

imo he has dodged so many people and forced people to fight at weights that suited him more than them that he could never be the greatest ever.

Good fight for Khan if he gets it, but he really isn't ready for this is he? He won't win and hasn't really proved himself vs a top top fighter. On a bit of a recovery mission his previous few fights. I think he needs a rematch with Garcia and beat him first before he gets to Floyd who is a better fighter. Obviously Floyd wants this fight now with an easy Khan to add another scalp and as usual dodge the biggest fights until the very end.

As big a fan I am of Mayweather, and as good as I think he is, I can't deny there is some truth in that ^ He has been very clever in selecting his opponents at certain points in their careers.

Maybe if he had a loss against his name earlier in his career, he wouldn't have been so protective of his unbeaten record and would have taken some riskier fights, we'll never know.

well you cannot call yourself the best boxer ever if you never took on other boxers when they had seen far better years or at weight levels which were fair.

anderson silva in the mma world has fought anyone put in front of him and even fought at weight levels which weren't his natural one and he has destroyed them all for years up until now but he is getting old, well he's 38 now, most would have retired years ago.

silva for me has to be the best fighter the planet has ever seen because he does take risks and outclassed other fighters in their prime with ease.

As much as I dislike Khan if him and his team had any sense they would now start a PR offensive claiming Mayweather's ducking him because he's scared. Most people won't believe it but their only hope now is getting under his skin and make a few people question Mayweather. Then hopefully it'll happen and Khan'll get smashed :D

Mayweather vs Maidana - May 3rd, MGM Grand.

I think it's officially been announced now via twitter. Unlucky for Khan who I think should face Kell Brook, he'd still get a decent payday from that.

Which channel will the Mayweather/Khan fights be available to watch on for 3rd May? Don't mind paying a one-off fee for the night.

I believe it's on BoxNation on Sky but I think you can only subscribe to the channel rather than the event itself! (no minimum term though so you can probably get a month for about £10-£12)

It tickles me that the radio adverts are plugging it as "Mayweather and Khan" so to the uneducated you'd think they were fighting each other!

*edit* BoxNation has an £8 "registration fee" too making it £20!
