*** FM17 thread ***

Anyone hitting the woodwork 3 or 4 times a game? Currently Newcastle, P5, W3, D1, L1 conceded in 4. Creating 30+ chances in some games but just not scoring and then the classic FM of they get one chance they score one goal. Frustrating as ever but annoyingly enjoyable at the same time.

Coventry in the League Cup next followed by Brighton in the league and Transfer Deadline Day. Bazoer is transfer listed for £8.25 million but has no interest in joining

Might look into Lasagna but Lazio are interested and as soon as I bid he'll be en route to them no doubt. Sold Perez (to PSG) for £16 million and Lascelles (to Swansea) for £12 million. Brought in Kuki as Perez's replacement and didn't bother replacing Lascelles with Hanley, Mbemba, Gamez, Haidaira, Clark, Dummett all able to play CB. Diogo Dalot is my hidden gem I picked up from Porto - looks like he could be a world class RB.

I don't know, i think i need to download some facepacks again but i have such slow internet. :(

Well I'm completely addicted to this version, 3D engine A.I. could be better, but it is still the best yet. All the new feedback, like reminding you to praise player, scout a recommended player just coming up in your inbox, is so useful and slick.

Social media is pretty pointless so far for me, but I don't use it in real life apart from this forum.

Loving it here too even though I can't even turn professional :D

I quite like the social media stuff - it's ambient. Not sure how relevant a lot of the stuff is but the attention to detail is amazing.

Should definitely get Lasagna, he's only like 3m. If you offer him a bigger wage and signing on fee, no reason he won't come to you instead. He'll bang them in for you though

Tried it, no idea whats going on.

Absolutely flying with my Villa team. Finished top of the Championship in the first season and currently sitting 3rd in the Premier League coming up to January. I've got one of the leakiest defences in the league though and a small squad so I'm waiting for it to all fall apart.

Any suggestions for a good CB?

Mongongu? Not sure how good he is in this year's game. Look at his concentration as well as that can be really high or it can be like 9 depending on luck.

Playing as Spurs I bought Donnarumma and the fans seem to be unhappy about it! He cost £20million which I don't think is actually bad.

Did you not have Lloris?

Social media thing is incredibly predictable. The 'fans' always say 2 good things and there is always a negative one. Same stuff each time.

Also, I've bought a couple of youngsters to loan out, and the 'fans' aren't happy at me letting them go. It's as if I've sold them. Plus the media come up to me and say "why did you let him go"? No option for saying "He's only gone on loan, chill the **** out!"

I'm seeing different stuff on my social media. Lots of different twitter feeds etc. How many leagues and what size database are you using? As for the other thing that sounds like a bug pure and simple. You should write it up on the bugs forum.

So how are people finding injuries? I'm getting one a week it feels like and quite often first teamers. Most injuries are happening in training yet I've not tinkered with the training schedules, so its still on FM17 defaults, and all my training categories are on light workload.

I'm not finding them too bad now. Initially I had a major headache. I had 8 injuries before my first season begun. I changed a few things; removed all player training prior to the season, and removed all PPM training.

When the players arrived back from holiday I set the training to fitness and very high, for a week. Team cohesion was the other selection. When my players reached approx 70% fitness I changed fitness to balanced and changed the frequency to low. Friendlies meant my first team were gaining match fitness without training injuries wrecking their careers. Make sure you tell your first team to ease off the tackles in friendlies.

My injury levels have since declined. I've got one player with a broken leg at the moment and that's it. Do NOT set any PPM until the season starts proper. The extra workload I've found causes a lot of these injuries. Don't forget as well there is a new feature, the sports scientist. I have yet to establish their role but it is supposed to help prevent repetitive injuries. I haven't tested this myself.

SI are looking into this matter internally too so we might actually see some improvement coming along. A lot of people have complained about it.

Don't forget that your players might be injury prone too. It's hard to tell without the editor but anything over 10 is a nightmare. I reckon I had a lot of players with this stat set quite high in my first season. Didn't help in training exercises as that is when most incidents are done.

I wonder what the sports scientists are doing in FM17. I'm getting a lot of injuries and this mocks the addition of sport scientists.

SI always say that injuries are realistic but this many for so long a period of time out? And all this with the new sports scientists. They aren't making any noticeable difference for me.

Yeah I'm not too sure the sports scientist role is working. You would have thought that a good SS would have to have physio as a stat but it doesn't make a jot of difference. Same too with data analyst. Apparently anyone can become one. Maybe that is true? :D

But the role of a SS is to prevent 'repetitive' injuries in the same player, not to prevent injuries per se.

It does seem like the two 'new' jobs borrow attributes from physios, e.g. the physiotherapy one. :D I guess SI will develop the roles in future versions?

It'd be nice if the sports scientists could prevent repetitive injuries point blank as I have several players with the same flipping injury! :D

Berardi has had an amazing start to the season - 6 goals and 7 assists in 8 starts. Best £73k per week I've ever spent. With him, Mitrovic, Perez, and Dolberg I've got a pretty great set of strikers.

For a good Premier League centre-back I can recommend Hugo Basto from Arouca. He's solid if unspectacular in terms of stats and he only cost me £1.1m. Much better value than the £8.75m I spent on Lewis Dunk...

He went to Lazio on 23k a week - I offered 40k. Signed him on loan a day later which might pay off better as I won't have him on the wage bill when we return to the prem.

The fitness selection in training isn't for a players fitness per say, it's for their fitness attributes (stamina, strength etc) just like teamwork is for determination, concentration and attacking for finishing, composure etc. It's a common misconception which I fell foul of until a few months ago when I read up on it. Ideally there should be a conditioning option which would reflect fitness level and match sharpness but at the moment well attributed Physio's are the only way to minimise injuries and severity.

Realistically I don't think the injuries are that bad, fair enough I have 6 or 7 players out but all for knocks and niggles and the game is much more orientated to you looking after players with the amount of info you receive about them not recommended to play more than 45/60 mins etc though I agree it could do with a little tweaking on SI's part.

Still trying to work out what the best attributes for them are, I'm thinking JPA, Determination and Man Management.

Definitely noticing an issue with injuries.

I also have one youth prospect who is injured all the time.
He'll resume full training and be out again for another 3 weeks the same day.

I cheated yesterday... Got home very drunk from the pub and decided I'd play one game. Smashed Wednesday 3-0 but in the process I lost Nakhi Wells to injury - my one goalscorer - for almost an entire year. Under normal circumstances I would have bittn the bullet and stuck with it, but in my drunken state I reloaded the game without saving :( What an embarrassment.

That's exactly my issue. It might be because i set them to play in the under 20s when theyre not ready. Even 20 minutes when they're half fit will kill them.
This wasn't an issue with 16, so something has changed or its a bug.

I should l get a star for sticking with this. Still stuck in the Scottish Champs with Ayr but once again they aren't having the best of times. I've tried 3 or 4 different formations in 3 seasons. At the mo I'm using one with two wingers and 2 DM's for the first time ever. My DM's are actually reasonable players. But it's such a competitive league, that even one point splits 4 teams. I finished 8th last season. The two teams above me had the same points but better goal difference. It's really tough. Certainly the biggest challenge to date.
