*** FM17 thread ***

To top things off I've just been given an extra £14.5m to spend in the January transfer window :D

:(

I had 120k to start with at Leeds, managed to sell a few loose ends for 1.5m though and i've nagged the board for more money. Got about 2.5m in total now. Makes such a difference having a bit of money to spend on key areas.

I think, so far, this is the best Football Manager to date.

can you build and expand your own stadium yourself, like in the good old Premier League Manager/ Championship Manager days? Or is it still done by the board automatically?

That's one thing I miss from years ago, taking a small club, building improvement after improvement, advancing through the leagues, seeing your run down 5000 standing capacity conference league ground turn into a 100k all seater European Stadium. That level of immersion was epic for me.

This is just amazing. Sorry to harp on about it, but it's definitely the best experience to date for me.

So that's my first season over, and I got relegated :D There were 3 clubs on 30 points and unfortunately I drew my last match with the team in 8th spot. But even still, I love what I am seeing. Lots and lots of little improvements.

I don't think the difficulty is a positive attribute actually. I'm getting the usual bizarre results inside of the 3D engine now, it has changed very little the A.I. and is a great shame as the 3D graphics are excellent. Back to instant result, for realism.

Just a little update, SI are looking into the injuries issue. Apparently there may be too many long term injuries being thrown about, especially pre-season. So let's see what happens.

Went on holiday until Jan of the first season and then took the Preston job with the aim to avoid relegation. Managed to get a mid table finish out of them but the transfer budget for the next season was 96k. The Brentford job cam up so I applied and now I have a £10million budget instead. Time to spend!

Twice I've asked the board for an affiliate club and twice they've said yes. Twice they've also not been able to find anyone. I'm managing Manchester United. :D:rolleyes:

I feel your pain. I am wondering if there is a bit of an issue with affiliates full stop. I can't get the board to agree to a senior one which would greatly aid my squad both financially and with free loans.

I've had the same - trying to find a parent club with no success.

Managed to get Southend promoted into the Championship - holidayed the first season unemployed and then took over at Roots Hall. For the first time in many years of FM editions, I reverted back to a 5-3-2 formation - 3 CBs, 2 WBs, 2 CMs, 1 AM and 2 STs - and really enjoyed it. You do heavily rely on your forward three to provide almost all the goals, but having two CMs with decent long shot attributes helps out. Promoted into the Championship and I've found a diamond regen - 18 yr old CB in the Swedish top flight with excellent heading, marking, tackling and determination... Been tracking him for 6 months hoping that he'd finally discuss a contract with me when I'm in the Championship. Does his ligaments the day I bid for him and he's out for 7-9 months. Grrr.

Half my team hate me due to a bug that's been found - Auto selecting your pre-season training camp squad results in half the first team not being selected  so half my starting eleven are desperate to leave.

Going to be a long, hard season this year, with most of my first choice side out of contract at the end of the year, a small budget, etc. but I've spotted a few regens I reckon I'll be able to get hold of in 12 months time.

One annoying thing I've noticed is that many players, having been scouted, seem to eligible for work permits according to scout reports (even the most difficult - teenage regens from Central or South America) but they never seem to be approved work WPs when I actually try to sign them.

With reference to injuries someone replied to my post on the SI forum about them. It was quite enlightening to be honest and some of the stuff he said I didn't know about.

The bottom line is injuries are going to happen regardless, but it is how you handle the preventative maintenance around them.

Apparently, more physios equals higher prevention of injuries. I didn't know this. I was always under the impression that you only needed one physio in your team; and now you get Sports scientists they manage repetitive injuries better.

I've also been told to remove any training and PPM from players pre-season, and in friendlies tell them to ease off the tackles.

Ive found a right striker thats good for the Championship, not sure how he'll fair in the prem as i havent been promoted yet, hopefully this season though.

Kevin Lasagna/Carpi/24/~3m to 4m
He's got 18 in 17 for me.
