Yeah, MrLOL was running a modded high powered car and it's clutch was fine - until the day that it broke. Notice how he hasn't got "VXR" written in his sig anymore... take a guess why...
whats that got to do with the evo / subaru ?
The manufacturers stated torque limit for the gearbox was 400 nm or around 300 lb/ft
I remapped it to nearly 400 lb/ft because i was gullible enough to believe tuners saying it would be fine. Lesson learnt. But the lesson here isnt that anything with 300bhp goes through clutches. Its do your own reasearch, and when you tune your cars, trust nothing but your own instinct.
The 8 year old car would be people who usually suggest E46 M3s, and not aimed at this thread.
It is not an excuse, I do not need one. Its a common trend, if you can find a "Should I buy this hot hatch brand new" thread, that hasn't resulted in the above, please post it.
This thread was actually titled "Focus RS, Would you?" it wasnt entitled, how can i find the cheapest RS etc.. it specifically said YOU, referring to me and all the other posters in here. Furthermore, nowhere in his post did he say he would only consider buying a new car. We discussed that if thats what he wants then fine.
But is this decision of only wanting a new car sensible ?? hes never said he wasnt open to it, and asked us to discuss. And we did, and we came to the conclusion that you can get so much more metal for your money if you dont buy new. Its all so easy to go for a test drive in a shouty green thing and get all wrapped in it and make a rash decision. A decision that when the novelty has worn off 6 months down the line you regret.
We're here to challenge people who get caught up in the moment and stop trying to make a sesnible and rational decision. If he doesnt want our advice, or doesnt listen then fine. But since this isnt the focus owners forum this isnt going to be a thread full of "yeah mate, get one, it will be great !!" and will challenge the OP to make a sensational and well thought out choice.
If he chooses the RS after our advice then fine, we did say that if you really want an RS, then obviously nothing else will do since its not an RS. But so far the OPs concerns have been about cost, not "its not an RS, i'm not interested" and this is where we can help by helping him make an informed decision about what he can / cant afford to run.
Seriously whats with the chip on your shoulder ?
