Folding@Home News - Attention Single-Machine Crunchers

.... after 6hrs would it still upload happily?
yes - it will get new work probably within about an hour of the connection coming back up (like SS said the retries get longer and longer apart so if it had been trying for 6 hours it may still take a little while after the connection is sorted) and will try to send the finished WU every 6hrs as standard

you can force it to send/receive by restarting the service/client as it send and receives and work at start up anyway :)

ok I think everyone is now up to date ready for the news :)

Oops, should've said something before :o

Could you possibly remove me from the single crunchers list for this and next week? I've re-started folding on my parents' rig whilst they're on their jollies, and it has made a difference to this week's score :)

i've just started folding again after almost a years break

running a single machine at work (constantly) its a Dual Core Pentium D @ 2.8GHz
Welcome back :)

You dumped 1091 before the news - I can add you to this weeks news if you want or just wait till next week, whatever you prefer

nice work on the work borgage too - nice and cheap :D

add it to next weeks please :)

and yeah, only shame is thats its a dell and i can't overclock the damned thing because theres nothing in the BIOS :(

i've got my system at home as well of course, and the girlfriends... but we've just moved into a flat and don't even have a phoneline... let alone the internet.

when the net is in the flat, i expect my output to rise a fair bit :)

but as said, for now i'm still using this one machine... i'll let you know when i get the others up and running :p

I wonder if it's possible to make a bios for these dell machines which has some overclocking options, maybe as simple as just changing the fsb. I guess you can't change it using software, clockgen for example, maybe the boards actually can't.

most Dells I've used don't like being run at full whack anyway - I would doubt they'd have sufficient cooling to deal with any extra heat on top of that :o

all the ones where I work sound like jets taking off if they get stuck in a loop waiting for some other archaic piece of kit to do something :p

My boss keeps asking why all the PCs (Dells) seem very noisy over the last week :( Might have to scale back the assimilations
