Folding@Home News - Attention Single-Machine Crunchers

Just thinking that :D

Ive got 2bullish ready to stomp me too. He hasnt dumped for a couple of days, so Im thinking hes got a high pointer on the go.

Trying my best to get this P4 using every inch of the cpu power its got to fold. Its putting up a fight, but maybe be just ready to get stomped anyday now...

If only I could get the NF4 temps down to something reasonable.
It's hot at stock speeds and allows no overclocking what so ever :(

(If it was my machine I'd consider watercooling the CPU and NB and overclocking it to the Lower Ground floor of hell (Lingerie, Electricals and Home & Furniture)) :p

Just joined under my OCUK username and changed the team to 10.

Hope this is okay - I'll leave it going 24/7 and see how it does.

May as well use my CPU for something - lol

Is there anyway to get a proper OCUK signature rather than the made up one below?

Cheers,

Macca

Excellent as I've just started I guess I have to wait until tomorrow until all the information is filled in - it won't be anything oustanding anyway - lol

Nothing outstanding specs wise:

P4 3.0Ghz
1GB ECC PC3200 Memory
256MB X800 PE G/Card

And at the moment I need to be added to the single machine crunchers.. :D

I've done 1 WU up to yet this current one reckons 1Day 6Hours..

Guess I'll leave it to it - is there anyway I can assign full CPU to it as I'm going out now?

I'm using the system tray version if that makes any difference?

It'll take care of that on its own. It'll use up all the CPU cycles that are not requested by other processes.

It is about the same speed when running bnut it does not run when no one's logged in and it does interfere with 3D games in the Windows version. If you're logged in all the time and don't play games, it's just about the same.

I guess you mean that it's showing 50% max at the moment as it's an HT machine?

The only way to do it is to add another client - instructions are in the sticky
Although it's showing only 50% usage in reality it's more like 70% of the full capabilty and for some of the more advanced work you may find no real benefit at all from running two clients (infact it may even just slow everything down)

The best thing to do is give it a try and see how it gets on.

edit: wrote the post and then got distracted before sending :p
if it's not an HT machine then ignore all i've just written :D
edit2: oops almost forgot to add you to the list - i'll go do it now :)
Welcome to the team!!!

Thanks mate.

Good to join - it's a project that I'm deeply interested in as well.

I'm thinking of just having a stand-alone machine running this (well when I move house anyway).
