A few non producers to get past then it's lemonman (shadowscotland, I think...) in about a week and a half, then Emilystood.... (this name definitely stands out! who is this anyway?).
 
I hate to be n00bish but having downloaded Ubuntu and installed VMware Server, I have no idea how to run the console described in the guide (here). The start menu shortcuts are only "Manage virtual networks" and "VMware server home page", and then another subsection for "VMware web access". Subsequent searching of the VMware install folders reveals nothing of note. Could I somehow have accidentally downloaded/installed the wrong thing? :o
 
The server edition is a PITA at best! The easier way is to download VMware Player. As this now has the capabilities to create VMs, supports quads natively, and has a 'wizard' for installing/setting up the VM. Much better GUI than the server edition.

Installed ubuntu on it myself last night. the 'hard' bit is getting linux to play ball.

Lemonman is indeed me (old uni name from running round my hall of residence looking for a lemon - long story)
Everywhere else I'm shadowscotland (my blue movie name - first pet + grandma's maden name)
and emilyetc. is sculptor (named after this little girl and some bad times)

I did start a thread may moons ago on why we all picked our ID's and Forum names - but it was deleated due to old age

If emilyetc is sculptor... does he fold under more than one id, or is there more than one sculptor?
 
Hmm, I may have got it working as it should on Linux VM but I'm unconvinced that it's quite right. I still have four clients in FahMon, Gromacs core.. how do I know if it's the SMP client? Here's a screenshot, in case it helps:

PPD scores seem reduced, if anything.
This was installed using finstall, and v6.24beta F@H (the original finstall file points to the latest stable version which did not appear to work, so pointed it to the beta instead).

Any help, once again, appreciated!
 
As far as i can say that you are not running the smp version as it would only have one item in Fahmon
I wish i knew what you need to do to get smp working in linux but i have forgotten as i tried setting it up a month ago but my mobo died and i am now just waiting for its return

Ahh just following that SMP guide again it would seem one has to then add in a -smp switch as well :o will post in a minute with more details
