Food “shortages”

Aldi my friend. It's ten times better, cheaper, and always, always in stock.

Aaaaaaalddiiiiiiii, where you can get some foil and a chainsawwwwwwww
More importantly you can get some rope, a tarp, a shovel, and a load of cheap bleach with your chainsaw. If you pick the right week you can also get a jackhammer and compactor which can prove handy.

Likes of Aldi, you can't buy bread/strong flour anymore to make your own pita

Proliferation of Christmas goods in Aldi and JS, so you can buy the xmas pudding today before it goes up tomorrow,
locking in your turkey tarif maybe advisable too (can we have a cap Lizzy), even if you have to time-shift it's cooking with electricity shortages.

Stock's been weird for a while.

There are regular gaps in various products, but I've literally checked for Tesco own brand kitchen foil every week for at least two months, and it's never been in stock.

Was that Springforce Wrapping foil?

Mini fillets has been out of stock. Hot and spicy or plain. Lots of items marked down as, No Longer Part of Our Range. Mints missing like Mentos, Spearmint. Lots of packets of ham slices missing or always out of stock. There's no pattern to it. Even lots of Fairy Liquids go out of stock or disappear from their range week in week out. Bottled water was limited to 3 just a few weeks ago for over a month or two. It's been put back up to 6 which one time used to be limited to 9.

I don't know if they've got supplier issues or some drivers has spoke of issues with the cost of living crisis that Tesco's thinks what customers can afford. It's getting to the point it's so stupid, the stuff you're looking for is either out of stock or they've pulled it from their range. For the past 4 - 5 months now, Swankies battered Haddock has been unavailable. Which I used to be able to get no problem weekly. Then just this week Lurpak 500g has been sold out.

Even some Kefir Yoghurts has been pulled from their range.

We’ve noticed this too. For several months now our Ocado deliveries have almost always been missing an item or two. Nothing usually too serious but recently prepared baby milk has been out of stock a lot. Went to 3 supermarkets on the weekend to get prepared baby milk and that should be a big worry sign. The country is a complete mess.

Not so much pitta bread but 1L cravendale milk keeps being 'out of stock'... which is irritating because it lasts longer etc and prefer the taste.
Tinned (condensed) milk, for coffee, is hard to come buy if you prefer the reduced fat version.

Limited selection of a lot of stuff, I've really noticed it with crisps for example.

Not going to go hungry but it is limiting choices and in some areas of our local stores you can really see how they're 'spreading stock around' to make it look full... when it isn't just a scruffy mess of boxes that are just left on the shelf anyway.

My butler informs me that the price of Champagne has gone up recently, if it carries on I may need to switch from Harrods to Fortnum & Mason.

Testing times for all.

Maybe the age of plenty is over and we'll soon be forced to eat whatever we can grow and kill ourselves.

Gonna go and plant me some pitta seeds.

I can’t find any pitta breads in any supermarkets atm, last week it was whole chickens.

Anyone else come across this?

Yep, been like it for a while. We do home delivery, and back in the good old days we hardly got any substitutes, now we get loads.

also, some products are discontinued altogether...usually the things I really like. Get ready for a diet of heinz spaghetti hoops, as that's what we're going back to.

:D @ the replies in this thread.

I had some oranges and grapefruits on this week's ASDA order. The grapefruits were unavailable, so they subbed it with... more oranges. WTAF!
You had a good sub imo. My friend's mum wanted to make lemon drizzle cakes. Ordered lemons. Got lemon washing up liquid. Same friend's brother, ordered online when he had covid. Ordered some Twix in the single finger multipacks. He got tampons! They both begin with T, long n thin and individually wrapped. Then the connections stop.
