Food “shortages”

Someone somewhere has decided we've had it too good for to long.

That moment industry noticed in 2020 when the community charge went up and social media filled with those moaning they could not afford it, but one month later came along lockdown and the same people were spending £7000 a month on toilet rolls, bread and Anusol.

Stock issues are pretty regular in both of my local Aldis for the last couple of months. There are always a few things out of stock that I have to get from Tesco after.

Quality of veg is also awful.

Sunlight uplands for sure.

I thought it might have been a London thing but the fruit and vege goes off in a matter of days after purchase. Probably because it has to sit for days on a truck somewhere.

I can’t find any pitta breads in any supermarkets atm, last week it was whole chickens.

Anyone else come across this?
My Sainsburys local only seems to get wholewheat pittas in once a month....so I'm forced to scoop them all up like some doomsday prepper and chuck em in the freezer.

Or maybe the handful of people that also eat them do the same as me....who knows....

No it's utterly crap even outside London in the supermarkets now.

I've noticed a lot of empty shelves in the last few weeks at various supermarkets. I wondered what was going on, and the media have been asked not to report it to prevent any panic buying.

Beer aisle seems ok that's fine

Well you don't, you can refuse replacements

Unfortunately I missed the email saying there was a substitution - I'd still like to know what kind of sick psychopaths they have working for them that think that kind of "substitution" is in any way reasonable though

Lidl seems to have at least two things missing each time I go in. What I can recall are long life milk, eggs, kitchen roll, tonic water, chopped tomatoes (bought passata instead), rice, crisps, some cereals and cans of tuna. There maybe others but they weren't what I was planning to buy or next to what I was buying.

No issues with wine! When Lidl change their world tour of wine, what's remaining from the previous world tour, goes on sale for £3.99. I bought two bottles and were £8.99 each. :D

Sorry had to post this

TBH I let my OH deal with it, I'm not allowed to accept substitutions because I'd probably just say yes.

I normally don't mind substitutions, but light "mayo"? I mean wtf. The main ingredient is oil, so how the **** do you propose to make a "light" version?! If you're that much of a fatty you need light "mayo", then maybe just go without and stop ruining the world for the rest of us?!
