I think more than anything in VDV, Bale, Pienaar, Niko and shot happy players like Jenas you've just got a midfield that doesn't really give the strikers much of the ball.
How many touches did Defoe have vs Gyan for instance, theres only so much you can do if no one gives you the ball.
One of the commentators was a joke, Gallas had bad boots I assume, is it better to stay on with bad boots and slip or fall or injure your foot, or to get it sorted. One commentator literally said nothing about Dawson being rubbish, the lack of the team covering properly the lack of getting remotely close to the cross or Gomes maybe doing better, it was just 5 minutes about Gallas and how the team will hate him, and how sitting down AFTER the game at Birmingham makes him a troubled player?
Then after Dawsons header, which he said was a bit rubbish and should have been easily dealt with by the keeper he didn't mention even once that Gallas ran right infront of the keeper and put him off by both blocking his view of the ball and attempting to flick it. That goal would almost certainly have been saved if he didn't get in the way, and Dawson/Corluka and possibly Gomes could all have still prevented the goal they conceded. What if Gallas was injured, or just out of position upfield, would the goal still have been his fault, no, someones out of place you cover and you defend, they didn't.
