Not such a good result for Arsenal as we are 3 pts behind still....we played pretty damn well against the Wolves...RVPPPPPPPPP is back to being one of the best strikers in the EPL...10 goals in his last 7 games
...what an awesome return for him....hopefully he can stay fit for the rest of the season as we definitely need his goal scoring as we cant rely on Chamakh, Bender, Arshavin and Walcott
.
Much as I love RVP, keep in mind those goals have come against, Birmingham, West Brom, West Ham, Wigan, Wolves and Newcastle. Now if Barcelona get renamed to Warcelona I think we'd have a real chance but in reality RVP came back at the perfect time to get some form. Theres nothing wrong with scoring more against weaker teams but all but 2 of his goals came against 4 teams up to their neck in a relegation fight.
Had Chamakh/bendtner/anyone else started against those guys they'd have had a significantly improved strike rate because, thats the way it goes quite honestly. The good news is if theres any run of teams and a decent run of form for a striker to want to take into that Barca game, thats it. But RVP tends to look completely stranded in this formation against "proper" teams and gets very little support. Look what happened in the second half against Newcastle, without support and with them attacking hard we had none of the ball and RVP couldn't maintain ANY posession at all.
Assuming Barca don't have their one shockingly bad game a season that almost everyone has, we'd do far better with a striker who can win the ball when entirely stranded.
Hahaha
After watching MoTD and both WBA and WH's defending was shockingly bad! I was thinking after seeing the score it might have just been great attacking plan... turns out it was just down to **** defending!
Shocking defending yes, can't say I'm sure how many first team defenders were playing for West Brom, it seems that it was most of them. West Ham's first team would be Illunga, Upson, Thompkins, Faubert/Spector probably, on form at least. THey played, Bridge, Reid, Da Costa, Jacobsen yesterday, a thoroughly 3rd string defence.
To be fair on bridge, he actually improved a lot after a tough start to Arsenal, any player needs SOME form and match fitness, Da Costa is just back off an injury, Reid is rubbish, Jacobsen is rubbish, those two aren't good enough for backup at a League 1 team, West Ham need a serious clear out.
