**Football 19th-22nd March** 2010/2011

Carra's was a red, so was Evans, not really bad reffing today, more Phil Dowd being a tit and letting players fight the other week.

From the radio sounded like you created a decent few chances, certainly in the first half.

I don't see how it was a red, it was a bit of a lunge but it wasn't two footed and he did get the ball. Not to mention the Bolton player lunged in as well

It was more the clear penalty in the first half and Davies consistently getting away with fouling every defender.

Only real chance we created today was the Hernandez one in the first half, most of our shots were long range efforts from Nani or Rooney. Could have given us a hundred corners today and we wouldn't have won a single header.

Best thing about the result today is thsat Evans has done more for uniteds title chances by getting his useless carcass sent off for a straight red, therefore being unavailable for selection for the next three games, than he could ever possibly contribute by being on the pitch.

Incompetant, talentless, braindead oaf that he is.

****ing bottling *****. At least we got a point, but seriously, our season just doesn't add up.

Points we've taken from other teams:
Man City - 4
Chelsea - 3
Newcastle - 1
West Brom - 1

We should really be a few points clear at the top by now! It's games like today that we really need to win, otherwise the whole season comes down to a difficult game against united at the emirates. If we had just beaten West brom both times this season we could have been 1 point clear with a game in hand. It's looking more and more like United VS Arsenal will be the title decider.

Manuel Almunia has conceded five goals from just seven shots on target against West Brom this season & one save was a penalty.

Of course we should be a few pts on top by now but the simple fact is that we just struggle against the lower end teams and just like last season....this season we are struggling to gain points when it matters the most....same ole ****ing Arsenal...unbelievably inconsistent when playing the lower teams lol..

I cant be bothered to sum up some anger at how we play such utter rubbish football...im happy as Pak have beaten the Aussies in the WC cricket so all in all not too bad a weekend sports wise...would be have been better if Arsenal had won but at least we rescued a point but nothing to celebrate about that :(.

So can someone explain how Carragher sliding in and catching the man 2ft higher is a yellow but Evans sliding in against a Bolton player also sliding in is a straight red? More crappy reffing today from the handball at the start all the way through.

Didn't create a single chance really today, fortunate is not the word. Were a lot more effective once Nani was allowed to move around more rather than being tethered to the left.

Because Evans wasnt sliding in, he jumped in and left the ground.

As soon as you go in, off the ground studs up you are rendered to be out of of controll of the challenge and playing in a dangerous manner.

The very fact that he injured the Bolton player with his idiotic challenge is proof enough that he should have got sent off.

Why have you posted the same thing worded differently twice, there's worse players than Evans in the league

Defoe's grandad died last night. :(

I feel for Defoe - but should he have been playing in the 1st place?

Surely his head couldnt really have been on the game 100% in this horrible situation?

Admire the guy for trying, but 'Arry should really have known better surely?

Given how important this weekend was for Spurs (with your direct competitors in a head /head) bit of a ****** by management imo

edit - no question Evans 's tackle was a red, but just makes Carra's escape even more galling (because of how much worse it was)

I think the Evans red was deserved, it wasn't as bad as the Carragher challenge but that match was badly reffed.

Anyway, thank God for Berbatov being there, I thought Fergie had made the wrong decision taking Hernandez off for Berba but it proved right in the end. :D

I posted it from my phone and it froze, I didnt see go up the first time so I re wrote it and did it again.

These things happen, the wonders of technology and all that.

I've changed it now.

Just incompetance from the referee's (again).

We have the worst referee's of any proffesional league, and they are only getting worse.

Worse players than Johnny Evans.

There are worse players by fractions of percent.

He is certainly up for being in the top 3 worse center backs in the league at this moment in time, I dont see how you can argue otherwise.

With the exception of one game where he played ok (liverpool at home) he has been a complete disaster this season, its almost a case of every goal we have conceeded when he has been on the pitch, he has been at fault for, either by being turned, falling over, conceeding a free kick or penalty, or missing a header.

I'm not going to defend Carragher's tackle, it deserved to be a red but these sort of posts are cringe worthy.

His challenge was 1 footed and he didn't leave the ground, however it was high and his studs were showing so it was dangerous and should have been sent off.

Evans on the other hand (and Rafael the other week) has left the ground and his full force was jumping down onto the Bolton lads leg. Tackles like that a far more likely to cause a serious injury than when a player doesn't leave the ground.

Only Evans knows whether he meant it, I suspect he didn't but intent or not, it's a terrible challenge.

Stoke had 40% possession and we still manage to get butt-****ed. Difference is they took their chances.

We're are getting closer and closer to the bottom 3.

Stoke always have pathetic posession at home, I think they hadn't had the majority of posession in ANY game at home since they got back in the Prem, which is a truly terrible stat, they managed to break it, against Arsenal of all teams and I think it was away from home. I'm tired, it might have been an away only stat but I think the reason it was so ridiculous was it was a home stat.

Defoe's grandad died last night. :(

Thats a shame for him, and he'll probably feel worse after the game :(

Baz, sorry but thats rubbish, Caragher had his behind leg on the floor, but it was WELL behind him, 98% of his weight was in his front foot going through Nani's leg.

If he was standing still the weight would have been on the other foot, but the rear leg, while running, the whole point is you push your weight OFF the leg as you push up, and he was so far through the motion all his momentum was in the front leg. You also only push PART of your weight up, most of your weight is moving forwards not down, thats kind of the point of running.

As for most likely to cause an injury, the single biggest factor is the leg position of the person being tackled. In Nani's case his leg was infront of him, in a way that pushing into the leg just pushes the foot into the ground and keeping grip. If its the rear leg, the foot gets pushed back, and injury is far less likely.

Caraghers was one of the worst tackles this year, his mometum was in the front leg, LOCKED out, hitting Nani at just about the worst point he could in terms of Nani's leg having no where to go. Evans, not great challenge at all, but Henderson was almost equally as reckless coming into it.

What a dreadful ending to game for us at Wigan. I said at the beginning we cannot lose the game today, a draw wouldnt be a bad result. To lose to a goal at the last minute is criminal. I really starting to worry for us now. I would happily give away the carling cup victory to stay in the league. We still got a game in hand and plus the international break but we really need to put in better performances. Not a happy man !!!
