**Football 19th-22nd March** 2010/2011

Was just thinking today what happened to that lass who was caught up with all the Andy Gray sexism row, thinking maybe its ruined her career now as it will take a while for them to want to put her back in the EPL.
She's at the Everton game today!

Ugh, EVANS!

What a plonker. First game back after a long stretch out because of poor form and this is how he finishes that struggle to get back in (probably only cos' of injuries).

Evans is poor, just so very poor, without that hash of a tackle he get caught a few times today, holding on to people, heading for heading's sake, not clearing etc...

Smalling ALL DAY LONG for me, and obviously injuries have forced SAF to use him but SAF up there in the stands must finally agree with the fans that Evans isn't good enough at all.

I'd use a reserve/youth DC any day of the week.

Rafael / O'Shea - Smalling / Rio - Vidic / Reserve Player - Evra / Fabio

I think Arsenal need a goalie more than a DM. This is where we lose all our pts.

If we had kept equal pts with Utd we could have sneaked it as they still play chelski but I can see us drifting back into 3rd or 4th now :(

I'm not going to defend Carragher's tackle, it deserved to be a red but these sort of posts are cringe worthy.

His challenge was 1 footed and he didn't leave the ground, however it was high and his studs were showing so it was dangerous and should have been sent off.

Evans on the other hand (and Rafael the other week) has left the ground and his full force was jumping down onto the Bolton lads leg. Tackles like that a far more likely to cause a serious injury than when a player doesn't leave the ground.

Only Evans knows whether he meant it, I suspect he didn't but intent or not, it's a terrible challenge.

And Carragher's experience should tell him not to tackle like that also, but he continues to without a care in the world

Maybe not intent but certainly severe lack of care from a player who SHOULD know better

Carragher's tackle was also higher off the ground (due to Bolton player's leg position today, the injury might not be as he was sliding also)

Personally thnk your description makes it sound worse because it doesnt really relate to how the Bolton guy is sliding along the ground himself (not disputing Evans was totally at fault, but there is a lack of judgement element to it, rather than anything else)

Rafael's tackle was bad, but crap refereeing caused that (by not stopping the game @ the tackle on rafael 30 seconds earlier)

With Brown out of contract , Neville retired & how often both Rio and Vidic are injured (Rio mainly, but Vidic has been having more shorter injury time outs in the last 2 seasons than previously), Utd need experienced backup to play along with Smalling rather than a rookie, especially as today's performance proves that Utd are absolutely terrible when the defence is shaky.

Nearly as embarrassing as Nani's statement the other day :o

I'd love to hear some examples of Carragher going in high/over the ball/studs showing etc etc etc in the past.

I can't recall Carragher committing any sort of wreckless or dangerous tackle prior to his tackle on Nani the other week.

edit: oh and the tackle that Nani claimed to have kept him out for 2 months last season was a perfect block tackle that led to our 2nd goal at Anfield (he didn't leave the ground, wasn't high nor were his studs showing). Oh and Nani managed to play in Utd's next game before missing a few games. I guess he was still in shock and the pain didn't kick in until a week later ;)

Is every week going to be the same now when non event tackles have all of a sudden become the topic of choice for comparison.

What year is the cut off point for saying X club has done dirtier stuff than Y club?

It's ****ing boring now and is making these threads even harder to read to find anything of note because you have to scroll through so much balls on a tackle.

I see worse watching my nephew in the under 11's and they just man the **** up and get on with it.

How on earth was that not a penalty for Brum, if anyones watching MOTD, he's not looking at the ball, he puts his shoulder out and knocks him flying. Ref's really are completely rubbish.
