** Football 21/22 April ** *spoilers*

LOL those are some funny quotes tbh, wonder how much they were paid to spout off those quotes.

Sure Scholes is a good player, a trooper if you like but calling him the best Premiership player is a bit silly. Honestly if he was that good then why have no other teams like Real Madrid, Barca, AC Milan...you know the big players in the footie transfer market have never made an approach for him??. Didnt Fergie say a few days ago that no team has ever made an approach for the ginger nut??:p.

Paul Scholes in his day was a very good midfielders, one of the best of his generation for England. He would have graced many many teams across the world.

He was already at a "big player" in Manchester United. Do you think Raul would have left Real ?

because they knew there was no chance whatsoever.

I suppose because on here when Liverpool won the CL and then made the final most people said it was much harder to win a premiership title than a league title. Surely that still stands, so to be the best you would rather win the league than a CL final?

Put it this way then

Win the CL and Liverpool win the title or Win the Premier league and Arsenal/Chelsea win the CL ;)

I just want to make sure before it all plays out this time which is the most important to the fans ;)

I have to choose the EPL title for Utd (just so Liverpool dont win it)

Even if we loose the CL final, still think we have a good chance of getting to the final (and probably against Barca unless Cech gets some confidence from somewhere)

Off the top of my head I can think of Ferdinand, Giggs, Carragher

There was speculation about Giggs in his early years - and also a couple of summers ago, mainly going to Italy

I don't remember anything about Giggs but i'm was about to put Lampard in my list... till I remembered the whole Inter and Mourinho saga :P

I think if a player is from the British Isles and plays for a top 4 club, there is usually less speculation then say for Ronaldo, who even if Man U win everything for the next 5 seasons, because he is Portugese, there can always be a story about him wanting to go to Madrid, or wanting to live somewhere with better weather

Liverpool last night reminded me of mid 90's Keegan era Newcastle.

As in, what was needed was a controlled professional dismantling of a not particularly good, but still very dangerous Arsenal side.
What Rafa sent out was an all guns blazing send everybody up top and to hell with it showing that left massive gaps a the back, and thats the one thing a Wenger team loves, is lots and lots of space to exploit.
They were 2-1 up at one point, all they had to do was sit on it for a while and try and pick Arsenal off as they tried to get an equaliser, what did Rafa do? let them all just keep pouring forward.

To be fair to Liverpool, at 2 - 1 it looked like the game was over as Arsenal hadn't had a chance in ages, then completely out of the blue Arshavin nicks in and scores one of the goals of the season, it wasn't due to Liverpool being particularly careless.

Agreed, I'm confused as to why some are saying Liverpool were defensively poor for some of the goals. There's a difference between defenders failing to clear and making stupid unpressurised errors as opposed to being tackled by forwards.

If the forward in question was known to be generally rubbish then perhaps some blame could be apportioned to the defender, but last night Arshavin wasn't.

LOL what game were you watching exactly??. Of course Liverpool were careless much like Arsenal who should have had the 3pts but gave an injury time equaliser to drop the 2pts. Liverpool had every chance to win the game but their defence, like Arsenals cost them the 2pts.

how long he out for?
Possibly back on Saturday.

Don't quite agree. Yes we were in complete control of the game and looking to get the 3rd goal to end the game but your 2nd did come from some careless play by Arbeloa. In fact your first 3 goals came from careless defending rather than being hit on the break like atpbx is suggesting.

The only time we did over expose ourselves and leave gaps for you was at 3-3 when we were chasing the winner.

He has a groin problem.

Yeah tiny balls but he's a great big ****

;)

I think some of the best players don't get in the transfer rumours because people know that they just won't move.

Yeah giggs was always rumoured to be offered mega italian money any time his contract was up for renewal.

He moved quite a bit in his career, first was with West Ham then Leeds Utd then finally Man Utd...im surprised that he didnt go abroad ie Italy or Spain as hes one of the best defenders ive seen play in a very long time.

I meant now he is at Man U rather then before. If you're a really good prospect at West Ham, then the Top 4 are likely to be interested in you, then he went to Leeds where at the time Man U were the best team in the league. But once he was there, there was no-where else in England he could go to progress, and since they're still doing well and there's no reports of unrest with him, so I'm guessing that the Madrids and Milans of this world don't even bother approaching

I just checked google for some Giggsy speculations and got this -

http://archives.tcm.ie/breakingnews/2003/02/24/story89403.asp

while is takes away from my point, hopefully it also backs it up in a way by there being so few enquiries about him

I think this is changing though because who would have thought that Sheva would have left Milan, Zidane from Juve or Milan even entertaining Kaka leaving. I guess no-one is untouchable, just need to have the right amount of zero's on the end of the cheque

Zidane from Juve? That was easy, he had a good international period with France and was doing fairly well at Juve if memory serves correct. He went to the richest club in the world at the time while they were building the Galacticos.
