one thing I do seriously believe about this season is that whoever wins the league will probably be the worst side to have won it in a long time

Man Utd are well short of their standard over recent years, Chelsea have lost the plot, Man City have yet to gel, Arsenal are a reasonable side but in most seasons would not have been pushing for the title and Liverpool were woeful for over half the season

While it has made for a very interesting season thne overall standard seems to have dropped significantly

Conspiracy? What are you talking about? Are you just having a dig for no reason or is there something I actually typed (not that you imagined) that you disagree with?

I'm glad you added that hilarious quip though!!

Edit - You do realise the majority of this thread is people moaning about refs :s Why have you singled me out? A little odd.

You started in the thread where Rooney didn't get retroactively punished and it's carried over.

I haven't complained about the referee but Carragher's tackle was bad as was maxi's as was Rafael's. Rafael's simply wasn't the worst though.

Makes you wonder why the fight from fifa/uefa over technology being used to aid refs? What is fifa worried about? Loosing control or something. When even cricket is more advanced in its use of tech that football it just makes you wonder. They say that video refs would slow down games, aren't they stopped for minutes when a bad call is made and players face the ref.

Started saying what? The refs are ridiculously incompetent to the stage where it's becoming impossible to believe they're actually refs? If you disagree, take a look at some decisions from this weekend, Rafael, Carragher, Bramble falling over and shoving Arshavin 2 yards from goal - no foul, Arshavin scoring a perfect goal - no goal, Gomes throwing it in the net - no goal, and this is in a weekend where I watched about a third of my normal football amount. I'm sure there were more

My opinion is Rafael's was far and away the most dangerous tackle of the afternoon, I'm sure most people would agree. If you don't then you don't, I won't tell you your views are wrong because they're not the same as mine

Rafael's simply wasn't the worst though.

Wow Utd tinted goggles there;):p....come on i watched the highlights of the game and even i thought his tackle was atrocious...anyone with half a brain cell could see that and no its not because i hate Utd because id be saying much the same thing if it was an Arsenal player doing the same thing.

Carraghers tackle was bad too, the fact that he actually cut open Nani's leg is testament to that but Rafael's tackle was just pure malicious with the intent to hurt.

Graham Poll seems to think Liverpool should have ended the game with 7 outfield players yesterday

Carragher, Maxi and Saurez the players that should have been sent off ( Saurez is believed to pulled Raf's hair in the melee)

Seems like its "best of 9 games" for the league title - including a 6-pointer.

The real challange starts now.

Poll also says that he understands how Dowd only gave a yellow. :)

I have been saying this for months as well, there is no stand out team this season and everyone has been drawing/losing matches that a title winning team wouldn't have done a few years ago.

Having said that, if we win, I couldn't care less.;)

Honestly without replays even we'd have far more wide ranging opinions of the tackles/decisions in question. Arshavin looked onside, pass of the game by Bendtner and a deserved winner, however without the replay I couldnt' remotely have been sure.

I get that referee's get things wrong, be honest, from a completely different position and one chance to get things right we'd all get half the things wrong that were wrong this weekend.

But the trouble is, more referee's = more mistakes, replays are almost infallible. 99.9% of the decisions that have gone wrong and truly effected games, red's, goals, corners/freekicks leading to goals or that should have been given the other way before a goal, would have been correctly changed if the ref was allowed to see a replay.

Surely if ref's are allowed to see replays, AND the fans get to see it, it will calm fan AND player trouble down aswell.

Lets say instead of LIverpool/utd players going after the ref after the Caragher tackle, Fergie throws a red flag on the pitch, ref goes to a camera, the crowd get to see what the ref see's on the big screen, everyone see's its a clear red card, Caragher will realise he was wrong, all the liverpool players will realise its a red the ref will give the right call and Utd players don't get angry about a wrong decision. The fans can all see its a shame he goes off but its a fair call and the game goes on.

At some point when 99.9% of decisions are right, players will STOP CHEATING because theres nothing to be gained, and so the amount of actually having to watch replays will drop drastically, diving will be gone, pulling shirts in the box will be gone, phantom goals will no longer happen.

Ref's make mistakes and its not their faults, replays don't, and would make for a better and FAR fairer game.

I don't know why all the talk is of Carragher. I can't stand the man but his wasn't as bad as Rafael's.

Pull the other one.

One is a 19 year old getting used to the Premiership that has made some stupid decisions with tackles, the other is a 34/35 year old who has played in many a United/Liverpool game and knew exactly what he was doing.

Disclaimer: :):D;):p

Have you seen the picture posted on twitter, I said yesturday his leg looked like it has a big cut in it, and for the post about Saurez, he did pull Raf's hair I noticed that yesturday live without the need of a replay.

Special mention to the classless Scousers that booed him as he was being stretchered off, very classy!

Gerrard and Kuyt should be ashamed of themselves, watching the footage this morning there's Kuyt standing over him telling him to get up and Gerrard actually slaps his leg!!!

Oh how I wish Keane was still around for this kind of flashpoints.

But saying that Rafael's tackle was awful and he should be banned for 6 games.

I saw the paper this morning, the Sun for all my sins but i was having my breakfast at the cafe so was having a browse and they had a pic of that scouser thug Gerrard standing over Nani screaming at him to get up...which i thought was pretty disgusting really...now whether or not its been photoshopped is another question but surely Gerrard could see that his leg/knee was gashed open :/

LOL Keane would have probably ripped both their heads off and swallowed them or booted each head into each goal:p....one scary guy that i wouldnt want to anger:p

At least for once you can see the league is unpredictable got bored of hearing commentators saying that when really it hasn't been for a while.

This season is just mad as others have said no stand out team, teams starting badly, ending badly, playing even worse, boring football, crazy decisions its had it all thats just each week :D

Listening to 5Live and they were talking about this 'Respect' campaign and how the FA have basically bottled it.
The idea was to stop all these players hounding the ref's trying to sway decisions and get in there faces. If they followed the rules they should be booked and possibly sent off, but any ref doing so will probably find them selfs in hot water with the FA and demoted.

I love to hate football, yesterday were two cracking games but the politics behind it is ruining it for me and I'm starting to hate aspects of it.

No manager should be allowed to blank any media, no one person is bigger than the sport and this should be upheld.

The punishments are poor, theres no back bone, theres no respect theres absolutely no consistency theres a lot to hate about the game which unfortunately end up dominating headlines and news.

Indeed.

Classless the lot of them, I'm amazed they didn't rummage through his pockets while he was down.

Vile individuals.

No wheels to steal innit:p...but yes that was pretty classless of them...no need for that...Nani is quite clearly injured...instead of helping the guy, they are giving him more abuse :/
