Football manager 2016

Ah I see ok thanks.

Will wait for it to come down in price then (not in a rush to play it yet!)

Argos has it for 19.99 - you can use the key on steam to download (or install from dvd)

This is first fm i've played since 2009 - a lot has changed but thats a good thing as i use to buy these games every year but not see enough change for the money, but feel i'm hooked again so what will probably happen is i'll get fm2017... relise theres not much change and wait a few years again :D

Talk about a season of two halves. Coming towards the end of my first season with Inter.

https://gyazo.com/0eff88ae7637a235c0f13e4cea6904ef

First half of the season went very well.. Up til end of January competitive fixtures only
Played 28 - Won 19 - Drawn 3 - Lost 6

Second half. Pretty damn poor. ...

February til now (5 games left in the League)
Played 19 - Won 3?!? Drawn 10 - Lost 6

At one point I was 2 points behind Juventus with a game in hand. Now I'm 12 points behind having played one game more..Crazy..

Will update after 5 final games...

Final 5 games - 2W 3D meaning I finished 5th which was my pre-season board requirement.

February onwards therefore

P 24 - Won 5 - Drawn 13 - Lost 6

Haha, tell me about it. I can't offer a new contract to my unhappy best player because of Joe Cole.

He's been on loan at Colchester for a little while but they're only covering about 20% of his wages. He's back now too. I hope he retires soo.

I bought in a young winger from Paraguay, Sergio Diaz is his name. I've read online that he becomes world class.

Diaz is fantastic, picked him up in second season I think and he's been out on loan for a year. Think he's going back out on loan for another season or two as he isn't going to get my already oversubscribed 4 man attack of Babacar, Martial, Embolo and Gabbiadini, Sansone, Llajic, Bernadeschi and Wiltshire.

Juventus are absolute ninja, they seem to have infinite funds and rarely lose more than half a dozen games over the course of a season. I've had 3 title battles (all I managed to win, first one was a fluke, second one was because they faltered and this one I actually have a title winning team because of crazy AI transfer listing of players - Martial, Wiltshire, van Ginkel, Witsel, Gabbiadini)

Most of the time the title comes down to within 2 points or head to head record

I've been humiliated by them in the TIM Cup Final in my second season before they won the CL a week later.

This year I've had some revenge by knocking them out of the CL, drawing 2 v 2 at their place to win the head to head and won the leauge 2 weeks later.

My favourite thing in the game is how much more difficult it is, I can beat anyone in Serie A as long as I change tactics for home, away, derbies etc but my first year in Europa League I got knocked out in the group, second year in CL, got beat 3 v 0 home and away by Wolfsburg - both should have been 8 - 0, dropped in to Europa League and lost 7 v 3 on aggregate to Galatasary so now my second attempt in CL and I've just beat Juve over two legs and Arsenal in the SF. (won 5 v 2 at home but Arsenal scored 40% of my goals through own goals and then clung on to a 2 v 2 draw at the Emirates) City in the Final, preparing to get humped but should keep my squad happy as a few are complaining the Italian league is rubbish which I can't argue with.

I'll post a load of screenshots tonight of the squad and transfers etc

Juventus seem pretty unbeatable on my save. They're currently on 98 points after 36 game with my Pescara second on...65 points :o

That's an interesting formation. Is it for home and away? How many chances do you create? How do you cope with teams who play wide players?

I play on the counter, so as I've so far generally been the weaker side in terms of players I've been using it home and away. This season I've found that I struggle to score at home against the weaker teams, though, so I may have to alter the instructions a bit for those games next season. Other than that I create plenty of chances, I just have a poor shot/goal ratio. I guess that's down to the high tempo/high pressing style.

It sort of evolved from my favourite formation from FM2014, a 4-4-2 diamond with wingbacks, to give me a bit more cover on the flanks. The flat three in midfield provides decent cover and my full-backs still contribute to my attacking play. Obviously I'm still vulnerable, but Italian teams tend to play quite narrow so it isn't a huge issue.

Just thought I'd share some SS from my current save. Decided on a Fiorentina save as had struggled to get into a save since buying 16 but enjoying this one. Pushed the club to the financial limit to win the CL and now I'm fending off offers every week for most of my players and not looking to buy apart from a CB.

Seen some crazy AI transfer listings, van Ginkel listed for £3.8 million so took him on loan with agreed fee, towards the end of the loan his value was back up to £22 million. Had a cheeky £27 million bid accepted for Martial, same again for Gabbiadini after Napoli managed to get themselves relegated. Witsel £7 million, Wilshire £9 million. Also weird transfer movements, Mourinho to Everton then sacked again and went back to Porto, Rodgers to the MLS then Man Utd!

Images are quite large, couldn't find the BB code for forums on imgur for some reason.

They offered £6 million up front and £57 million over 24 months, sent them back my price and got this through. However, I've hit the clubs finances hard to gain success and the revenue made available is only 35% so if they can't up my revenue percentage I might have to decline, especially as Marco has a 15% sell on profit clause

Scouting. Help please.

I'm inter Milan, 23 scouts and I'm struggling to understand best way of scouting the world.
Last season I basically assigned one scout to every single region, and then the odd extra scout to better areas, e.g central europe, Uk ireland, 1 on next opposition etc.

I now have 42% world knowledge, it was about 36% at start of last season so it has improved, but i can go around some of the biggest clubs, e. g FC Porto, i have 100% knowledge in Portugal but i can go into their squad and see a decent looking player, i still have to 'scout ' them. It's just not making sense to me.

Equally, its the end of the transfer window now, but other teams are signing brilliant players from big clubs in countries that i have full knowledge in, yet these players have never been mentioned to me!

I'm starting to think it may be better to assign the scouts to individual countries or competitions.

As i'm typing this an experiment will be done within the next 24 hrs.

Both Assignments starting knowledge - https://gyazo.com/862b433a44ffa4e19cb3e9b59855a591 None will finish early. 2 x scout in Eastern Europe, Central Europe, Uk & Ireland, and South America. Will sim until May 31st 2024 on both tests.

Method A)
I will leave 23 scouts as they are now. One maybe 2 in each region, with the odd person covering two assignments (all make sense) e.g German First division and Germany, or Serie A and next opposition. Will sim one year and see what knowledge increases to.

Method A Starting assignments - https://gyazo.com/4168e4f60489021b0ac26b2630e6b844

Finishing knowledge - 46% - https://gyazo.com/2be09721c4c7ca27b071374cc9f392a5

So, 4% improvement, UK & Ireland is now 'complete' knowledge, however i've gone on to a player i know to be 4*+ at Man City and while I still have the option to 'scout player' all of his attributes are visible.

Method B)
I'll then delete all assignments, and assign scouts to individual countries( starting with most likely to find wonderkids in) england, brazil, spain, france, etc. Again, sim one season and see knowledge.

Method B Starting Assignments - https://gyazo.com/a9e798c0c4912a8e0130233e4aafb8b1 - Scouting countries where (i've found) most likely to find wonderkids, with a few in which i have almost no knowledge(e.g cambodia, Australia). As with the first experiment, all are looking for a 0.5* current, minimum 3* potential.

Will post results

Cool, would like to see how this works out, I tend to bring in a scouts from specific regions and not really bother about their judging ability, just make sure they have 20 in judging potential and 15 plus in the mentality categories. Same for some coaches too as when you go the knowledge page it shows you where your knowledge levels are coming from.

Scouting is a lot harder this time round. But this is how I do it.

Hire the best scouts, regardless of where they come from. But make sure they have good abilities to judge and high determination. This is important as it will allow them to scout other areas of the world and keep their scouting knowledge. They will quickly lose it otherwise.

The most efficient way to improve your scouting knowledge other than scouting the individual country is to hire coaches. Former assistant managers usually offer the best scouting knowledge. So if you can hire an assistant manager as a coach, he might have up to 10 different countries in his 'database'. This gives you an instant scouting boost. I've got 12 scouts and 9 coaches and have 46% worldwide knowledge using this method. But in the past I've had up to 90% worldwide knowledge although that was in FM15. This is most definitely a tougher prospect. Scouting knowledge takes longer to achieve I've noticed.
