Football Manager 2018

Really enjoying this so far. Still playing it when I find the time! If you want to play it properly you need to be unemployed.

Installed it Friday night and have started a career with West Ham... Dont know why i chose them dont ask :p First 5 league games and sitting 3rd only losing 1 game.. Beat Brentford in the Carabao cup 4-1...

League Results:

Swansea away - Won 4-1
Liverpool home - Draw 1-1
Watford away - Won 2-0
Leicester away - Lost 1-0
Man Utd home - Won 2-1

Going well for the irons... Just beat Hull 3-1 in Carabao cup 3rd round:)

Didn't think you could switch the Brexit function off...

Completed half a season at Blackburn, on the one hand this is pretty fun, the game is still as addictive as it's always been, I just don't like some of the player interactions! It seems like selling anyone causes the squad to collapse in confidence regardless of how good/terrible the sold player was...

At the mid way point of the season with West Ham im sitting 6th, Bet some West Ham fans would love that to be real, Only bought in one player and that was J.Fulton from Swansea to bolster the midfield. Offered a contract to a youth left back, Reece Hannam, Played him in his first game and he was man of the match. All going well for a european spot for next season :D

I haven't played a football manager game for a few years and have been typically crap at them. Is it recommended to get 2018 and is there any place I can go for helpful tips? Fancy myself as a bit of a know-it-all at football but evidently I'm not when I play this game.

Loads of sites have good info I like YouTube though there are some great people there like busthenet who explain things like mezzala tempo carrilero.

This year I an going for the unbeaten mode to spice it up. Any team the only rule is when you lose a league game its game over and you delete the save. I wish they would add this and leaderboards.

It's ridiculous that the goofs at FM put in what they think will happen over brexit, totally destroying some people's games.

They didn't put in what they think will happen

Then put in multiple scenarios. It's random which one you get.

Pretty much the reality of what we're facing at this very moment in time.

At the end of the day, if freedom of movement disappears, then it'll drastically change the way teams can buy in European players.

English clubs have far too much money and power for that to even affect them, they will just buy a European club and loan the players over. Brexit won't affect the rich.

Still need work permits.
Brexit will affect football negatively unless we reach the same immigration legislation (or football gets special allowances, which doesn't seem fair)

That's ignoring the whole fallacy of buying European clubs.

Man utd wouldn't have bought Monaco to get Martial. Who under different laws regarding immigration wouldn't have been allowed to work in this country.

I mean they will buy other clubs to buy the players they want to then loan them across.

Clubs got around work permits in the 90's it was only on Champ Manager which they got denied in such numbers.

We were in the EU in the 90's.
Depending what the permit rules are it doesn't matter about the club. It's the players.

We will have to see. But I'm obviously remain, and to me logically I can see why problems can occur, and while I'd personally remove the brexit stuff from FM I see where they're coming from.

Based on the Brexit change I had in 17, which was 17 foreign players over the age of 21 in the team and any number under 21, it really didn't make it that hard unless you used zero GB players.

Brexit made my game more enjoyable. It meant you could find that 15 year old with world class potential and not require sending them to a feeder for 5 years because of their eligibility. I had a selection of under 17s who had excellent potential in my fm17 save. As long as I was under the 23 foreign player limit I didn't require permits.
