Football SPOILERS 11/12 April

Foster scares me, he flaps at stuff far too often.

People who come to this conclusion so quickly annoy me

The idea of an average goalkeeper is one who catches EVERY ball

The idea of a great goalkeeper is one who catches and saves everything possible.

No Goalkeeper can be flawless

This was only Foster's 2nd appearance in the league and he's already scaring you!?

Give him a chance man!!

Sorry if it seems harsh but my position is GK, just get frustrated when people get on other keepers case so quickly.

meh you dont need another midfielder THIS season, you already have:

Fletcher - Giggs - Anderson - Carrick - Hargreaves - Scholes

You need another left back and a left winger cuz giggs is old and Nani might not be up 2 much.

CB was ok this season tbh but next season needs to be strengthened.

Ferdinand - Vidic - O'Shea - Brown

good for this season tbh

WE have two decent left backs (Fabio and Evra), Fabio's just been unlucky wth injury

We have a 3 stand in left wingers , and if he gets up to speed quickly (and puts some weight on) Tosic - Serbian bought in Jan - can easily become 1st choice but is pretty green

We have 3 CB's incl Evans - who apart from midweek when he was unlucky - has done preety well standing in for Rio and Vidic this season - I cant see us attracting a top of the line CB because they are likley to be 3rd choice at best, so most likely is (IF needed) a promotion from the youth setup - so highly unlikely to strengthen there

Brown has been out most of this season - so not sure where you are getting that back four from, Neville is doing pretty well considering how long he is out for (and as long as he is kept in the RB position), When Brown is back (I cant see him getting any starts this season) with Neville and Rafael, we are ok in that position too

The other Serbian we bought in Jan should be (in theory) arriving a year on from Tosic (I think his name is Lujic or something) who is a central midfielder and again pretty young - but I think he wont get many games next season just like Tosic this season. Hopefully Hargreaves has no issues with his recuperation, and that will be like signing a brand new player.

One winger (Ribery hopefully, but unlikely) is all we are likely to sign (ok it would be ideal to replace Berbatov as he really has only had a so-so season, I just cant see it happening this quickly) - rumours persist of a goalkeeper but Im not so sure

Welbeck and Macheda will get a lot more games next season (and remember Welbeck seems to be pretty handy as a wide player also) and there is also the options of Frazier Campbell and Manucho - although Im not so sure about either one of them (even though they have done ok for their loanee clubs)

Sunderland played well today - and our midfield/defence was atrocious (compared to 2 - 3 months ago anyway). Got a feeling Giggs was saved for Wednesday in mind - for a central midfiield slot , and I think that might work well) I stilll think Foster is a decent keeper and given a good run of games can cut out the errors he shows.

As stated on MOTD - its the 3 points that matter at this point of the season, and fortunately we got them (it could easily have been 2 - 6 scoreline though)

Chelsea where so ***** lucky to not drop points - and Arsenal had no right to start the 2nd half with 11 men. Liverpool played very well (esp given that Gerrard was rested completely) but with no real striker on the pitch for Blackburn there wasnt that much danger of dropping points

edit - actually given that Berba could equal Tevez's goal tally from last season (ok its unlikely but its still possible) - with less games played , he hasnt done as badly as is made out - likely to play all 9 definite games left (without allowing for the CL Semi's & Final and the FA Cup Final) and has to score 6 to equal ......given that they both missed a lot of pre- season training in the respective season, is it really so bad? (and as an FYI 8 or 9 assists depending on where you read).

Yes Gibb's had made it so it wasn't a certain goal scoring opportunity, it was also hard from non high res footage but I think well, he made a meal of the contact but the keeper was on his way out.

Fabianski isn't awe-inspiring, but he needs games and we really haven't seen enough to know either way.

Gibbs wasn't too bad, Silvestre wasn't too bad and scored, we dominated the second half so much more by having 4-4-2.

Why for 3-4 years we've been playing away from our strengths I have no clue. The whole team trained, was brought up learning and are all best played in a 4-4-2, they ALL play worse in a 4-5-1, we have less posession and always defend more when playing 4-5-1. Even against Man U, or any other top team we end up with more posession and less shots against us in a 4-4-2.

ANother large reason for our improvement, theres a direct correlation between how much we give the ball away, and how many of Diaby/Denilson/Song we have on the field. RVP instead of Denilson was just a hugely better player coming on who was also being played in a hugely more influencial part of the pitch. Yet another completely and utterly unconvincing performance, another terrible performance from Theo on the wing and more signs that Wenger doesn't know what he's doing.

How many games have we been woeful in the first half only to revert back to 4-4-2, or something more attacking in the 2nd half for the game to turn around, why won't the pratt ditch 4-5-1. Thinking Blackburn, who are utterly terrible, we weren't very good first half, switched Nasri to behind the striker and 2nd half, diff team. Same in almost all of our last dozen games.

I cant believe we are going to see a league bottled to a win.

IF only Liverpool had won some of "those" games, I would love to see a Liverpool league title win.

... more signs that Wenger doesn't know what he's doing...

Oh do shut up. We were poor in the league for the first half of the season but have been unbeaten since November iirc. Yes we had a lot of draws but we've cemented CL football for next season, have a good chance of reaching the semis of the CL and are in the semis of the FA Cup. But of course, the guy who's widely perceived to be in the top 2 managers in the country and probably top 5 in the world doesn't know what he's doing...

Exactly, anyone that wants wenger gone or thinks he doesn't know what he's doing clearly doesn't appreciate the work he's done over the years with a team with a fraction of the budget.

One of the very few teams to take a title off united with a much lower amount of financial muscle. Unlike other managers you never hear him moaning about the board not letting him have money.

Time and time again a big player leaves and people start to cry, only for him to re-invent another player.

He's the best manager I've ever seen in my lifetime. Even though he irritates the hell out of me with his selective vision.

Rooney shows up our forward line every week. Whenever Tevez is given a ball, his back is to goal, the ball bounces of him and he has to run a few yards to get it under control, then he passes it back down the pitch to someone. Berbatov gets the ball, controls it better, but like Tevez his back is to goal and he quickly gets rid of it. The first half yesterday, he had some nice passes and didn't lose possession like other players did, but he's going to need to show something else.

Rooney runs at players, gets in better positions. I know Berbatov is only back from injury and looks to have injured himself again yesterday but he's going to have masses of critics at the end of the season if he doesn't change his ideas and actually influence a game. That said, I look at the rest of the players and despair at some of the form they are showing. Any criticism of Foster is a bit much considering he's only just been given his second start in the Premiership for us, the bunch of professional footballers and defenders in front of him playing suicide football for large periods of the game couldn't have been a nice experience for him.

how boring do stoke play there football at home

not to mention the constant time wasting with there throw ins, and sorensen's goal kicks. Then they were throwing things at R. Taylor, i hope they go down, the premier league dont need a team and set of fans like theirs, they need genuine fans like the toons.

You must have been watching a different game it was Newcastle turning up there wanting the draw, the game I watched had Stoke bombarding your goal at every opportunity.

Please..... **** off

You are going for the quadruple.... what more do you ****ing want??? :p :D

I want a decent striker instead of Berbatov, thats what I want.

We expect a little more from our strikers at united than wandering around disinterested and not a lot else, Spurs was about his level (no offense), no real pressure, no real expectation to perform, he turns up, he can relax it doesnt really matter if he fluffs one or puts in a bad game because they were not realistically going to challenge for a major title no matter how well he played, so he could just get on with things.

At united, every goal and bad performance counts, and his lack of consistent lack of effort shows each and every minute he is on the pitch.

Yeah he can be a lazy goit but Fergie knew that when he bought him... it's just not his game. He is quality though but at the same time frustrating I know.

Just how can you be saying you need half a new team when top of the Prem, in the CL, CC winners and still in FA Cup? Seriously, I think SAF knows what he's doing dontcha fink? ;)
