For the gym rats

for those of you that do front squats. I am considering doing these to mix up my routine a bit but when I have tried them in the past it hurts to keep the bar rested! Do you get use to this after a while or am I holding it in the wrong place?

its a shed load of weight on a different part of your body, its going to hurt to start with :p
yes you will get used to it, but yes you also might be holding it in the wrong place :]
 
That's still pretty good given your weight...

I manged 5x40KG the other day, that's still only around 104KGish total weight, you're around 120 aren't you?

Been on that routine for a couple weeks now - am really liking it at the moment! ;)

Brilliant, I will have to try and catch you on msn tonight. How do you feel about the looks you get when doing some of the ex's :D

I will be surprised if your squat/leg strength hasn't rocketed.
 
Yeah it is pretty brutal - I'm pretty unsocial when it comes to the gym :p lol
My legs & traps ache constantly (in a good way) :D

What an absolutely annoying session last night.

Cannons Twickenham (weights area is smaller than me if i was doing a snow angel)!

Got in at 9.15 (place closes at 10pm..) only to be told that last entry is 9pm, ok not an issue, will know for next time but say 'i only need 45 mins', bloke says ok so i go in.

1 bb bench press specific bench
1 smith
2 adjustable benches
1 squat rack
2 oly bars

Oh dear.
There are others using the area, so know I'm going to be stuck for exercises.

Chest session:
flat DB press
12x22,10x30,10x36,10x40,8x40,6x45,8x40

Now, I have whipped through these quite quickly (very quickly actually) and im in a hoodie and sweating like i've dropped 3 ECA tabs.
Thinking to myself 'ok, ive got 20 mins, plenty of time for some more', i setup an incline bench, aiming to do dips (on the assisted machine that you can remove the assist plate) and incline flye superset.

dips + incline db flye superset:
5xbw/8x22, 5xbw/nothing. some muppets decide they want the bench for the smith. So i find around the corner a sort of cable crossover machine, which the pillars are much closer to each other (designed to save space obviously).

dips + crossover superset:
5xbw/5x35kg(each arm) 5x40 5x50 5x35 (was really feeling the burn by pyramiding (word?) up quickly, 5xbw/5x35 5x40 5x45 5x30 (last 10 were with a 2 sec squeeze).

Now, at this point my chest is feeling truely worked. I look at the clock and its 9.50. I ask the bloke (staff) in the room how long I have (out of courtesy), he tells me 10 mins. I think that I have time for some explosive sets of BB incline.

Cue asst manager coming in and going for the lights!!! I ask why she is turning lights off and am told the gym is closing, 10pm is the time the door is shut, not the last time someone can be workout out till.

Now this annoyed me (but i was polite) as the normal Cannons I use has no entry time limit and none of this out the door by 10pm (finish working set, then off the gym floor by 10).

So I feel that i was working bloody hard, having a great session (considering lack of equipment) only to not finish it. Felt quite let down!
 
Good weight shifting! Size of a small truck 7.5 tonnes :D Sounds like a crap time though :(

What happened to your awesome 24hr gym? I was going to invite myself round for you to show it to me! :p
 
Moved away from Swindon now, currently staying either with wife in crawley or in feltham (near work).

there is a few awesome gyms around, but all will take about an hour to get to and back (though perfect timing for a pre workout shake hehe)

Though you're not a million miles from me, I'm in SE London - though probably more than a 1hr commute :p

yeah, the gym was perfect, especially the opening hours :D

could be worth a meet up mate, there are a few of us in and around london, I noticed Jake (Bromley?) on the other place mentioning having a session with simon and alex. I'm sure if we all could find a big enough gym (monster gym in herts?) we could have a mass workout! :D
