STALKER runs fine for me with the 97.94s. What sort of glitches are there?
Bad performance, flashing textures, flashing coloured triangles when it's raining...

The list is pretty endless, hopefuly this driver fixes it.

Tried these new ones but found the full screen video mirroring broken and not working back to the latest nvidia drivers, where it at least displays the full screen video on TV.

It still doesnt work and is definatly frustrating especially considering ATI have full screen video mirroring working fine.

I too feel R600 even if its 10-20fps slower maybe the wiser, almost seems Nvidias given up on the basics of Nvidia drivers, didnt quite expect even the basic Overlay/Video mirroring system to not work !

Aww never fear LoadsaMoney, R600's coming out soon. . . . bet you can't wait! :p LOL

Yeah gona wait and see what these new drivers are like next week, if no good then ill wait on R600, if its any good, or as good as GTX then ill switch back as at least you can use ATi cards due to having decent drivers, not like these jokers. :)

ATi release a new driver set every month, Nv is when they feel like it, 2x crap sets in 5 months is pathetic, the last lot coming in January, what a joke, as i said they to busy churning out cards for the cash, drivers wont get them cash, cards will, and to all those who i was saying don't know what you were complaining about, about no Vista drivers, im sorry, i take it all back, these jokers want their asses kicked into touch as its not on, ATi just cant be touched by these jokers when it comes to drivers, and there will still be that hardcore fraternity who won't have a bad word said about their precious Nv, its like the big Nv is the messiah, can't do no wrong, its about time you got your heads out of their big green asses and took a reality check. :p

As Nvidia's 8 series drivers (well of what there is of em) are absolutely *****.

Seconded ,Sod the performance I too am back on my X1950XTX, wasted days trying to make 8800 door stop happy  , Nvidia will have lost a lot of customers over the 8800 drivers & they'll have to do something special for me to buy another of their cards & I always sit on the fence with regard ATI/Nvidia hardware preference.

I'll be giving the R600 serious consideration, at least it'll be supported.

They are important, and I know that whilst I have always invested in ATI cards they have always provided very good drivers. I still wouldn't go back to a DX9 card that has slower specifications just because the drivers aren't up to the same standards

Even if the DX10 card would run nothing & the DX9 card ran everything perfectly ???

'Bad performance'. I thought that was the game engine, since all cards seem to be affected?

'Flashing textures' I haven't seen any flashing textures yet, is it some specific area?

'Flashing triangles' I know about the flashing triangles, apparently that ONLY happens if you Alt-tab or change menu settings without restarting. A simple restart fixes it.

Hardly an endless list...

5) Are there any issues with Vista and the Geforce 8800, or Nvidia cards in general with Vista?

A: There are many Nvidia related issues especially with the pairing of Vista and the Geforce 8800 series cards.
Are you some sort of Stalker fanboy or something?

You're beginning to show signs of following me around the forums into Stalker-related threads.

Pretty worrying behaviour TBH.

Well this is the new error I have. If I try to install these drivers in Windows or in safe-mode as myself via the setup.exe,

da8fd1d1.jpg

If I try the old-school way in Windows or in safe-mode as myself I get the error shown previously,

Gfx_Error.jpg

However! If I install them in safe-mode as "Administrator" they install fine. I've never had this much bother before. I have even removed every single Nvidia driver from my PC, chipset and all. Ran loads of regseeking software and still can't get them fully installed.

Back to 97.92 for me. I may install them straight over the top and hopefully they will fix the Control Panel but still use the newer version driver (wishful thinking!). :) :(

EDIT: WTF, now I can't even put the old drivers back on. Same error as above. Well something has gone pear shaped!!! Sigh!

I tried these drivers and they installed properly but on reset I got a BSOD, good job you can roll back drivers in safe mode

By the way, with 97.92 drivers on 8800gtx / win xp, my stalker ran great & never crashed all the way to completing the game with the retail non patched version.

Eh, this thread is about XP/2000 drivers.

Vista issues are completely different.

Since i installed these 101.02 drivers i cant use rivatuner, new version available or something ??

RivaTuner won't work with these one's as it stands. You need to go into the PowerTab area and set it so it thinks it's using the 97.92 version still. It's mentioned in the Guru3d forum, what setting to enter. :)

Ah ok, cheers for your help mate ;)

Oh my God you really are some sort of fanboy, I even bloody seperated it for you.

That kind of says quite clearly XP/2000 has issues with G80, doesn't it?

Ten out of ten for trolling effort.

How exatly do you get the old control panel. All I have in the registry is:

ContextUIPolicy
CplGroupUIPolicy
ModePersist_GPU:0_Mode:0
TaskbarUIPolicy

You need to set the values mate. So change the DWORD values for them.

ContextUIPolicy should be 1.
CplGroupUIPolicy should be 3.
TaskbarUIPolicy should be 2.

Then you "right-click" and add a New DWORD and set it to "SedonaDisable" and give it a value of 0.

Hey loadsa, what probs are you having with the 8800? I was under the impression a while back this card of yours was going great
I have the same card I think (8800GTS 640mb versh) and I've had absolutely no probs at all with anything I throw at it. saying that, I haven't tried "stalker" yet so that might be an eye opener. Is it just game related issues, lack of Sli compatibility in vista or just general performance issues?
