Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Hi there

Not 100% sure how concrete this is yet, but my Ford dealership got in touch today stating the Mustang priority team got in touch with them regarding the first 500 cars stating I am or should be getting one. They did not confirm which number I am or a delivery date but will come back to me later this week with such info.

What the dealership stated is so far Ford have pretty much guaranteed them a minimum of three cars and as I was the first to give a deposit I am getting the first car they take delivery of.

EXCITED! :D

Pipe down ego man. :p

What spec did you order in the end?

V8 fastback, magnetic, ebony, custom pack, manual. :)

If Recaro's become an option then I shall spec those in, they confirmed the performance pack is pretty much identical to US cars and the engine power is simply down to emissions, engines are identical across all countries.

I believe I can change my spec upto May anyway, as that is when the build starts!

Keep us informed about the Recaro's Gibbo. I'm in two minds about them even if they were an option (the standard seats look very supportive in the sides anyway).

Bloody alright for some isn't it :p.

Turbo 4 pot mustangs have been offered since about '77

in 79 it was the sole performance engine of the mustang line up. So you can't act like this is a new or strange thing for the mustang.

If they had released it with a DPKG style automatic would you still have gone for the manual?

Also, as you've owned one in the past, how much of an improvement is the independent rear suspension in your opinion?

If the automatic was as good as say Sports Plus PDK as found in Porsche or BMW's DCT then yes I'd have chosen an auto. But the current auto I've no idea on what it is technology wise just that it is slow.

I could not tell you as I have not driven one.

Nice Gibbo! Very jealous! Can't wait to see pics.

Might be a silly question but I assume you'll be keeping the Porsche as well?

I watched a number of reviews on YT last week, where the presenters were extolling the virtues of the IRS over the former solid axle. The conclusion seemed to be that solid axle was better suited to a drag car, but that IRS was much better on the road. Nothing we don't already know, but interesting nonetheless.

I can't wait to see a RHD in the flesh.

I want to buy the Mustang with cash, so will need to sell the 911 to make that so. :(

Not kept a car longer than the 911, was gonna sell it, but going to enjoy it through the Summer now and sell mid-end of year before new car comes. A specialist offered me 25-26k to buy it now due to it's condition and that they would retail it around 33k area, but I'd rather sell it myself for 30k area rather than have a specialist make a fortune profit wise on it.

Porsche is the best car I've ever driven nothing comes close as a drivers car which works so well on road, track and can be used daily and all without insane running cost. But I want to try something else and want some big power, Mustang does that and does it with great character. A 911 turbo is not for me just don't gel with them, prefer a GTR to a 911 turbo, but maybe in a year or two if I get bored of the Mustang I can look at something like 911 GTS, Cayman GT4 etc, but think I'll enjoy the Mustang, loved my old one! :)

Very jealous. Actually popped into Ford over the weekend to discuss but just couldn't bring myself to putting the deposit money down having not seen one yet. I have also changed my mind on colour about 3 times now lol. My current ideal will probably be a Ruby Red or Blue.

Got a call organised with the dealership on Wednesday when I know they are going to talk to me about it again. Ideally however I just need more info. It also doesnt help I don't want to buy it outright. I prefer lease or PCP agreements so I can just hand it back at the end. Not the most financially efficient but I find it leaves me more options and I have lived with a monthly payment on cars for so long it just seems the norm now to me. Still no details on any of the packages offered on that yet.

Something I did gleam from them on the weekend though was that Ford UK have been allocated 1500 cars from the first batch of main production which starts in Sept. Local dealer expects to start taking delivery in November and told me he had 35 deposits already (take with usual dealer pinch of salt). I think even if I ordered now I would be looking at a 16 plate car tbh.

Nope no more track days in the 911, why the M3 was purchased. :)

Also the way I track drove the 911, nothing was beaten on it and if anyone track driving is damn good for a cars engine, as long as properly warmed up and not over-revved and my 911 has no over-revs, tyres and brakes are all new on it as is suspension since I stopped using it on track. :)

Gibbo Cool we should get some OCUK Track day going this summer :) Only did 1 Track day last year with my DC2 then Engine rebuild had to be done :)

Now How tempted will You be to take Mustang around donington to see how it compares to 911. Even tho Mustangs are known more for strait racing and burning rubber hehe :)

Watched that video and my roommate says OI that dood with long hair (1:02) is dressed like Her ROFL
