Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Challengers are very loud in styling but in fairness probably the best looking muscle car currently on the market. Problem is they are nothing special to drive and are not that quick, think with driver and fuel your looking at over 2 tonne of car.

The Mustang is far higher quality on materials, faster and far better handling. But out the box the styling of the Mustang I think is a bit under-stated, they definitely need larger/wider wheels on the Mustang and another 10-20mm lower, completely transforms the look and stance. :)

Depends what model no way is the Mustang GT faster than the SRT Hellcat. Against the standard SRT I think it would be a closer affair.

I think the side & front of the Mustang look great with it's fierce and aggressive approach. But then there's the back.. :p

Edit: Actually it's not that bad, that picture with the spoiler looked grim though!

Of course a GT Mustang 435BHP won't be quicker than an Hellcat with 700+.

But plonk a Ford Racing supercharger kit on the GT and it will be. :)

Gibbo, please stop!
I know the Mustang is lighter, and I'm sure you're right that it'll be a better drive than the Challenger, which appears to have been made of cast iron and deuterium. For all that, I just love the look of the Challenger, and would happily pootle around in it all day long just to look at the reflection in shop windows.
I guess it's partly the fact I don't look at a Mustang and hum "where do we go from here" by Jimmy Walker.

I don't know whats wrong with me or how I became so dull but I still can't get excited about these. I'd walk past one if it's sitting on the lot when I pick my US rental later this year :(

Meanwhile the prospect of a Cadillac CTS has my anticipation levels really building

Had one in SFO last year. Decent poke, but wasnt a great drive and the interior was terrible. Full of Vauxhall switchgear and cheap plastic. Save your money!

That would have been the old CTS which, as you say, was a terrible car. Unlucky to get one still last year, must have been one of the last of the 2013's.

The new model is exceptionally good. I've had the smaller ATS the last few times and it's a deeply impressive car with a quality interior, good handling, a wide range of standard equipment and frankly enough to make it better in many areas than the 3 Series.

The Charger Hellcat is slower than the Mustang GT with Performance Pack so I imagine the Challenger Hellcat would be the same.

GTR is at the top m8, the proper model anyway ;)

Gotta say not a bad time for a Mustang though ;)

To me it looks like it's done great as it's at quite a horsepower dis-advantage, the C350R edition I can now believe that 7:32 ring time.

As much as I like the new one, I'd take the 68 Villain every day. I know it's not a good comparison price wise but that noise and classic look are epic.

I'm more impressed by how the Mustang has lapped faster than cars like a Porsche 991 C2S, Audi R8 V8 and Nissan GTR.

That gets me rather excited. :D

The mustang laps have been done by Randy Pobst a racing driver, the other cars by unknowns, bit unfair to compare?

Also GTR is the top 3 cars on the list?

True, best to only compare cars by same driver on that list, which to be fair this new Stang still does incredible well when you consider it has the lowest horsepower out of the cars around it. :)

Looks great, the noise is replicable on a new one afterall its got the same Coyote engine as the new car. ;)

It does seem like one heck of a car, very exciting that the Americans are finally producing vehicles which can stand with Euro cars, lets hope we see more and more American metal in RHD form.

To be honest when I ordered it a few months ago, I was just glad to be getting something with a V8 again, but was simply a case of it will arrive when it arrives.

Now however after watching review after review and how people rave about it, I am actually getting rather excited now to get it.

Crazy that my shopping list is:
Ford Racing supercharger kit
Ford Racing exhaust
Eibach pro handling kit (springs / anti-roll bars)
20" wheels with MPSS tyres.

Nothing extreme mod wise, but it will look immense and with circa 700BHP I think I shall be satisfied, especially with an epic soundtrack. :D

Some people have said, OMG your trading a Porsche in for a Ford, what the hell are you doing, have you like had a pay degrade or something, I am like no, Porsche is worth 30k, a brand new Mustang is 30k.....

Unfortunately that will be the Mustang's main weakness in the UK market, badge snobs, they can't see past that Ford badge, yet reality is Ford could have a true seriously contender here to the likes of BMW M car or Audi RS car etc.

Infact I don't think a Mustang even carries the Ford badge, its a Mustang, Mustang is a brand, but a lot of people in UK will just see the Ford oval badge on the forecourt selling them.

But hey part of me kind of wants it not do so well, I like the fact I drive to work in a 911 and don't see any other 911's, or one or two at most. When I drive the M3 I can sometimes see ten or more of them, exclusivity is a bonus for sure. :)
