Ford Mustang to be released in EU

Gibbo, if you concentrate too much on removing stuff and getting the weight down, you'll end up with something like your M3, something for a track.

With the M3 as a track machine i'd just give the 'stang a power boost, some more shout and improve on the image. That way it'll be a comfortable but very fun everyday car still.

I did say, I was thinking Powah! ;)

Got the M3 like you say, which next year will get the new 3.91 differential installed, cage and carbon wings. I might also give it a full respray as well either in stock colour or the M3 GTS orange with black roof.

The Mustang will be the road car that is fun, comfy and eventually has huge power, in the region of 700-800 horses. :)

Still no update from my dealer... awful at answering questions or emails.

Gibbo. Could you send me Karen/Andy's email details? Going to cut out the dealer now for updates. Cannot find their details on Mustang6G.

Karen has being superb and replies to emails at all times, but don't ask her to many questions its not actually her job.

Andy is the Ford UK MD, he has also being helpful, my dealership is very poor, but I've being given the contact details for the local dealership MD who promises to handle my car, so fingers crossed things improve.

To be fair, the dealerships can be as much in the dark as yourselves.

Their VISTA system only tells them where the car is and an EXPECTED date of delivery to them but this is subject to so many variables (late factory release, delayed shipping, customs delays etc) that it cant be relied on all the time. They can track the boat like the owners can but, once it hits customs after arriving from Zeebrugge, then its upto the customs how long it takes to go through there...

Basically, once it leaves customs, THEN they have a better date but its only a few days from this release that they arrive anyway.

Point to note - The cars were meant to arrive with a full cover to protect them however Customs is removing this and sticking it in the boot :(

True but to be met with silence or ignored is no excuse at all. Just reply stating they will try to find out and come back. Every customer should be responded too and re-assured. The customer should not have to chase, Ford need to improve in this area, well their dealerships do. :)

Yeah, agreed... even a quick email or call should be done.

Seen a Ruby Red one today with silver stripes... Stripes looked good. They are not solid the whole way. They fade out slightly as the go towards the front of the bonnet and to the rear of the boot lid (solid for most of bonnet and whole of roof tho)... Looks really nice.

If only the Camaro was available in RHD.

Camaro 1, Mustang 0.

:)

GM always do better when it comes to performance and handling in my experience from the factory. GM suspension is actually superb, almost like they had some help from Lotus. The damping/ride on the GM is one the best I ever experienced which is saying something. :)

However for some reason Camaro does nothing for me, it is the faster better handling car but I cannot put my finger on it but I simply do not want one. :(

Another thing to note, GM know to fit decent tyres from factory, which makes a vast difference, for whatever reason Ford love to fit nasty Pirelli Pzero's, maybe they cost less.......

Hi there

Another reason why its good to wait a year or so on the supercharger front.
Tuners have discovered the new S550 ECU can support boost by gear.

Here is a 700BHP Mustang on stock tyres, putting the power down in 1st and 2nd gear, seems to work well considering the driver is just burying the throttle. :)

Stock tyres, Whipple super charger, 700 horsepower which would normally be just spinning wheels in 1st and 2nd along with some spin in 3rd. With boost by gear the car actually accelerates very well with throttle planted.

Looks interesting and a good option for those who are lead footed. :)
I suspect it is limited power/torque by adjusting throttle position live, so you might be burying the throttle for 100% WOT but I suspect it will be adjusting the open throttle status based on traction, looks promising though. Some would argue however you simply should be able to do this yourself, but same argument can be said for TC, the computers are simply faster and can adjust more than the driver can. :)

Sorry a bit behind the times on these - but what's the current waitlist? Are they going the sell a finite amount in the UK/EU - or is the waitlist just based on how many they're making per year?

Wait list is around 12 months at present. Nothing confirmed on a max number built like the Focus RS but they certainly aren't making them in enough quantity to make them very common. I think it will be limited via time more than number as they will just stop making them when they prep for the next one. Nothing confirmed from Ford though.

Dealerships are quoting 9-12 months for orders placed today. There are a handful of cancelled orders floating around though, emailing Andy Barrett MD of Ford and he can help locate a cancelled car for you meaning you could potentially be in one before 2016, I think at present there is around 4 cancelled orders, a couple of EB's and a couple of V8's.

No idea if there is a limit on numbers, rumour is Ford was limiting it to around 1200 cars per year in UK, but unsure how concrete that is, I am sure they would not turn an order away. :)

But so far I think they have sold beyond expectations with around 5000 in Germany and 2500 in UK alone.

I was just at ThinkFord Guildford and they said it's around a 9 month wait if an order is placed today. They had just received a delivery of cars (the biggest in the country) so I'll post the pics I took soon.

HI there

Waited months for this, but at $199 from Ford (Levittown Benny) an absolute steal and no import charges. :)

Compared to the stock wheel it is only marginal thicker, not much at all, but it feels much nicer to the touch.

I did notice some miner creasing to the leaver in the bottom right corner though when looking down at the wheel can't see them so won't be visible once in car I think. But just in case anyone got any tips for getting those creases out? Leather cleaner/restorer or maybe put a cloth over it and gently heat it up and iron out?

Thanks - it might work for me at 12 months, I want to take delivery in early '17 when my current car goes back. Going to have a word with my nearest FordStore dealer (Warrington).

I was getting my MX-5 serviced in Guildford today and when speaking with the sales guy, he mentioned that ThinkFord had just taken delivery of some new Mustangs so thought I'd go take a look.

I was very excited seeing them all. They had 17 cars with a few of them having been delivered just minutes before I arrived. They had one in every colour. The dealership have a DIB demo one as well.

Glad I went magnetic, easily the best looking colour especially under our grey skies. :D

For me, it'd be between Magnetic and Ruby Red. As you say, under grey skies, Magnetic still looks good whereas Ruby Red only really stands out in sunshine which we don't get enough of here.
